A/N - This chapter is based on the song 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl?' by Jet. I hope you all enjoy it.

Nat had spotted you the moment you had entered the room. After all, every single thing about you was captivating, from the half smile on your lips as you surveyed the room in your search for someone, to your style choice. Perhaps, some might say you were a little underdressed for a Tony Stark party, in black jeans and a band tee, with the chunky black biker boots to cap off the look, but Nat thought it looked perfect on you.

You caught her eyes as you continued to search the room, giving her a small smile before quickly pulling your gaze away from her. In all honesty, you were a little lost and had no idea what to do with yourself as you attempted to find the one person you knew in the crowd.

"Looking for someone?" you jumped as Nat's voice came out of seemingly nowhere, and you quickly turned to find her standing beside you, smiling. "I'm happy to help you find them," she added, watching as you eagerly nodded. "I'm Nat."

"Y/N," you started softly, and Nat was suddenly stuck by just how perfect your voice was too. "I'm looking for Bruce, do you know him?"

Nat chuckled, nodding. "Banner? We work together," she told you, watching as you finally began to smile properly. "He's usually hanging around the bar at these things," she added, gesturing in the general direction of said bar.

"I should probably go say hi," you started, craning your neck until you spotted him sitting on one of the stalls at the bar. "Thanks for your help, Nat."

As you moved into the crowd, headed in Bruce's direction, Nat was suddenly struck by a sinking feeling the pit of her stomach. Bruce didn't usually bring dates to parties, which meant you were probably pretty serious. She released a sigh, taking a long sip of her drink before heading back into the crowd. Of course a girl like you would have a boyfriend, and of course it would be one of Nat's closest work friends. Go figure.

*Time Skip*

The party had already started to die down by the time Nat saw you again, caught up in a conversation with Bruce and Tony and laughing along with whatever was being said. God, even your laugh was pretty.

You glanced in her direction, catching her eye for just a moment before quickly looking away, returning to your conversation. You uttered something quietly to Bruce, your hair falling over your face to hide your mouth as you spoke. A second later, Bruce was looking in Nat's direction too, smiling over at her and waving.

Eyes widening, Nat shifted her gaze away, zoning back into her conversation with Steve with a look that screamed panic plastered onto her face.

"What's up?" he started, brow furrowing as he glanced around the room, looking for the cause of alarm.

"Nothing." The word came out wrong, all flustered and fast, tumbling out of her mouth before she could make it sound normal. "It's nothing," she added, softer this time. She quickly shifted her expression to a much more relaxed smile, attempting to calm herself when Bruce cleared his throat behind her.

"Y/N wanted to say thanks for your help earlier," he started as Nat turned to him with an awkwardly large smile.

She nodded, swallowing as she let her gaze move over to you. "Yeah, no worries."

"It was really nice of you," you reiterated, a smile of your own drifting over your lips. "God knows I would have been lost if you hadn't pointed this idiot out for me," you added, glancing up at Bruce as he rolled his eyes at your little snippy comment.

"She thinks she's a comedian," he started, watching as you stifled a small chuckle.

Nat nodded, attempting to compose herself as she glanced between the two of you. "How long have you been together?"

Your brow's pulled together as you considered her comment, until Bruce let out a snort of laughter. "We aren't together," he corrected, shaking his head rather rapidly. "Y/N's my little sister."

"Oh," Nat uttered, her eyes widening slightly as her mouth flapped, searching for something to say. "Sorry, I just assumed-" she cut herself off, swallowing and shaking her head. "I didn't know you had a sister."

You chuckled slightly, a sound so sweet that it knocked the air out of Nat for a moment. "He likes to pretend I don't exist so I can't go around cramping his style," you teased.

"That's not true," Bruce murmured, nudging your shoulder with his. "I pretend you don't exist because you're annoying."

A scoff escaped you as you turned to Bruce with a look of pure horror painted onto your face. "That is possibly the meanest thing you have ever said about me, and you just had to go and say it in front of your super cool friends, didn't you?"

"It could have been worse," he uttered, shrugging. "Could have told Nat how hot you think she is."

Your mouth dropped open as soon as the words had left him, and you fell completely silent, all attempts at a retort escaping you.

"Wow," Nat muttered, her tongue darting out to wet her lips. "That would have been super embarrassing if I hadn't been staring at your little sister all night, huh?"

"Wait, what?" Your brows were furrowed as you finally looked at her again, your cheeks tinted red as you watcher her carefully.

"Yeah," she murmured with a little shrug. "I only came over to chat because I thought you were pretty. And then I stopped because I assumed that you and Bruce had a thing going on, but now i know you don't-"

Bruce chuckled as he walked away from the two of you, followed closely by a rather uncomfortable Steve.

"Can I take you for dinner some time?" Nat smiled, giving a short nod.

"It's a date."
