IT WAS ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF BEFORE LAURA AND I'S FREE SKATE. It had been a couple of days since I met Madi and I really haven't seen Averman since then. My best guess is that he had been spending more time with the girl, but I don't blame him, I like Madi. She's cool.

But as I thought more and more about the free skate, the bigger the pit in my stomach grew. I wasn't sure whether or not I would be ready to perform my long program. Even if I had been practicing relentlessly, hours on end day after day, I wasn't sure if I was ready.

There were two triple axels right off the bat, and a quad lutz in between. They were difficult jumps, and while majority of the time I could land them during practice, I still worried that during competition I would stumble and fall.

And after my free skate and the ones after, I wondered what would happen after the rankings were set. What would Laura and I do after we were on the podium, if we were on the podium that is. Were we going to go home already? I've actually been enjoying the time here in Los Angeles.

Maybe I've enjoyed my time too much and I forgot why I came here in the first place. I came here to win the gold, nothing less, nothing more.

I laid upside down, hanging off my bed and the door to the dorm opened. I turned my head slightly to see Laura with a confused look on her face. To be fair, I didn't even know why I was upside down. Maybe it just helped me think.

"Ren why are you..." she trailed off before shaking her head, "I don't want to know." Her statement caused me to laugh which then caused me to fall off the bed in a slump.

I laid on the ground, my back flat against it. The ceiling was boring and just a plain white, chips every here and there. Laura's head popped into my vision and she held her hand out to help me up. I took it and pulled myself to stand, brushing my pants off.

I feel like I haven't seen the girl in ages, even if we share a dorm. We never seem to catch each other anymore. It was upsetting to say the least, but at least we were together now.

I smiled at Laura. "What are you doing later? I have an idea." She thought for a moment before shrugging, causing my smile to grow.

I knew that there was another hockey game tomorrow, so I planned on calling Julie and Connie. You know, some girl bonding between us all. It would calm everyone down. Maybe we could even invite Miss Mackay, I haven't seen her in a while. Just a girl's day where we could relax.
