'You still lack on holding your pitch, but that we will touch on next week,' Mr. Shaw exclaimed through FaceTime.

I nodded, "Thank you, Sir. I just hope I can improve before the next showcase."

He sent me a shrug, 'Only you can make that happen, Lady Rogers. If you can find a time between all that barbaric nonsense they have you doing instead of training your vocals-'

"You mean training to save the world?" I raised a brow, in an amused manner.

'Yes. You have a gift. It may not be as good as the others but I can see you becoming adequate with more practice,' he scoffed. 'You've saved New York. Not the world. Don't get a big head.'

Mr. Shaw was a strange man to say the least. The one thing you needed to understand about the seventy-five year old was his personality wasn't made for the weak. It was almost a right of passage in the academy to run out of a class crying.

Of course you might be thinking I would never have cried, considering I was kidnapped and fought a god, but you'd be wrong. My eight class he screamed at me for not being able to memorize the words of a simple song, leading to my Uncle Tony to almost run at him with a pulser.

He never utters nice things about anyone. Ever. When I came back from saving New York he looked me up and down and said, "He kept you as a songbird when you couldn't even hold a note. No wonder you escaped."

'Especially since you're now at the age to start preparing for the NAOA Academy.'

My interest peaked, "The what?"

'The National Arts Of America Academy. You're not old enough for it yet, but I could see you thriving there.'

My hand found my chin, "That sounds amazing, Sir. but I don't even have the right to go to school," I frowned.

His bushy brow quivered ever so slightly, 'Bollocks. You are a thirteen year old girl. School and singing practice should be the only thing on your mind.'

"Tell that to Shield."

'I most definitely will!'

The sound of lock unclasping made me perk up. Grabbing the gun from underneath my desk I pointed it towards the perpetrator, seeing Steve instead, "You're back!" I smiled, getting up to greet him.

Running over I was about to give him a handshake but he went in for a hug. Both our eyes widened and I put my arms out for a hug while he went for a handshake, "Oh... um." We both tried to figure out what to do before simply high-fiving.

"It's good to see you," Steve told me.

I quickly looked him over and was more than happy to see that he only got a few bruises from what I could tell, "Intense mission?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"A group of pirates took one of our ships."

"Well those were some unlucky pirates."

"You could say that," Steve looked over towards my laptop screen. "Mr. Shaw," he greeted him.

'Captain. Did you go on another unneeded mission ending in bloodshed?' Mr. Shaw asked.

Steve sighed, shaking his head, "Sometimes you need to do the hard things to protect the people."
