2 months later

"Yeah, we just left therapy." I went onto tell my mom as she spoke through my car's speaker while I drove.

"You did? How was it?" She went onto ask excitedly and I couldn't help but to smile.

"Mom, he's really trying.." I trailed off.

"We're really trying." I corrected. Both Mitch and I were putting in the work to make it work for us and our baby and I had to admit, it was definitely working.

"Wow. I'm so proud of the two of you." She went on cooing while I smiled widely, focusing on the road.

"Are the two of you still coming to dinner tonight?" She went on, obviously just wanting to badly get us to a dinner table to ask more questions.

"Yes, mom. We'll be there." I playfully rolled my eyes.

"Okay. See you then." She said before we said our goodbyes and the call ended.

Smiling to myself, I couldn't help but to place a hand over my small belly as I stopped at a red light.

I was now three months pregnant and my stomach was beginning to poke out. Oversized clothes were my go to right now since Mitch and I still hadn't told anyone except Mars and Retta.

We were waiting for the perfect time to disclose that information and I felt maybe tonight's dinner would be the time to do it but I had to talk to Mitch about it first.

Brushing myself away from my thoughts, I pulled away from the now green light as I made my way to my new apartment. It didn't take me long to get there and once I did, I saw Mitch's car already parked in the parking lot.

Getting out of my car, I watched as he got out of his as well with Marley getting out of the backseat, right behind him.

"What did you fly? How'd you get here so fast?" I joked, considering we'd left therapy at the same time.

"You know I don't be drivin' all slow like you do, ma." He chuckled, bending down to kiss me.

"Little ass car." He went on, talking about my punch buggy.

"Shut up." I playfully rolled my eyes even though he was right.

I'd just gotten my car last month like I'd planned and it was really small plus I was still new with consistent driving, considering I haven't had a car in forever. But nonetheless I was in love it because I got it with my own money and I couldn't be happier to say that I'd did this all on my own.

"Nah, I'm fuckin' with you, baby. I'm proud of you though." He went onto say for the hundredth time, making me smile small.

He wouldn't stop congratulating me for all that I was doing. I couldn't lie it say I wasn't happy to hear it though especially from him.

"Thanks, ugly." I smiled as he grabbed my hand and Marley's before we made our way into the house.

"Are you hungry, Mars?" I asked her once we walked in and I picked her up to sit her down onto the counter.

She simply nodded as I looked into her eyes, seeing that it was indeed something wrong and I kind of figured it was since she was so quiet.

"What's wrong, Mars?" I asked her and she simply shook her head but I knew for a fact it was true.

"What's wrong with her?" I whispered to Mitch as I walked by him and he just gave me a look, meaning we would talk later.

Saying nothing else about it, I moved around the kitchen, grabbing snacks for her and I. I knew that we were all going to dinner tonight so I decided not to eat anything heavy right now.
