Zayn.
~He runs his hand through his hair over and over, the stress from the situation causing him to become restless.
He looks up at the ceiling, trying to distract himself from the constant white noise of the ward.
A light above him flickers, the starch white room changing between bright and dim as a result.
His hands shake as he watches his father, the sound of his breathing relaxing him a little. The machines connected to him constantly beeping and whirring, giving his father some life. He grabs his father's hand, feeling for any reaction he may give to the sudden touch.
Nothing.
Sighing, he stands up, grabbing his empty coffee cup and walking towards the kitchen, needing another. Walking through the long hallways, he notices the lack of colour on the blank walls surrounding him. It's understandable, considering this isn't a children's hospital, but the patients still deserve to have some colour in their lives.
Having filled his cup with fresh coffee, he turns around, only to have bumped into a girl. Her long dark hair whips around, exposing her intricate features to him.
"I'm sorry" he quickly says, rushing his words so he can get back to his father sooner.
"It's alright" she replies, her eyes distracting him almost to the point that he couldn't hear her. They reminded him of the ocean, he decided. The beach his father used to take him when he was little. Those days are long gone now; time limited.
"I'll see you around, I guess" he says before turning around and walking quickly back to the room. Opening the heavy door, he sets his coffee on the bedside table and sits down on the chair once again; not being able to shake the image of her eyes from his head.
