Colm O'Driscoll X Female Reader (Dutch's sister)

Summary: you have to explain yourself to Dutch.

Word Count: 2800

During the whole ride from the little camp you had set up with Colm to the Van der Linde camp, Dutch and Hosea never said a word. It was tense and uncomfortable, your mind running wild with different ways this could turn out as well as trying to plan your explanation. But then again, how on earth where you meant to explain to your brother why you were in a relationship with his nemesis. Dutch has been silent and looking straight a head for the whole ride while Hosea kept glancing at him, he must have been wondering how Dutch would react just as much as you were. You think you would prefer a lecture from Dutch over this silent treatment.

You and the two men, your brother and dear friend you had known for around twenty years, dismounted your horses and headed straight for Dutch's tent. You didn't need him to make an order for you to do so, you just followed him.

Ignoring the few curious glances that the three of you got from some other members of the gang, you all disappeared inside the tent and Hosea closed the canvas to give you some privacy. You knew that the others would have the sense to not listen in on the conversation.

As Hosea walked past you he placed a hand on your shoulder in a reassuring manner, giving it a small squeeze before taking a seat on a chair that was in the tent. He didn't plan on getting too involved in your family business (even though the three of you were practically family anyway) but he was close friend to both of you and wanted to be there just in case things got out of hand. As a level headed mediator if nothing else.

"How do you ever expect me to allow this?" Dutch asked as he turned back to you, looking almost confused. Seriously, how could you ever expect to talk your way out of this one?

Honestly, you were asking yourself the same question but you finally came to the decision that you would try to handle it almost like a business deal. Maybe then Dutch would be able to listen.

"I know you two can never work together again, we both know how bad that went the first time but...this can actually be good for you" you told him. Perhaps showing how this can be used to his advantage would at least make him a little less mad.

"Oh please do explain to me how my little sister hooking up with Colm O'Driscoll can be good for me?" Dutch scoffed, his phrasing making you cringe slightly.

"Why do you think the O'Driscoll boys haven't been causing so much trouble? They're under orders by Colm to not bother us" you pointed out. "You two can't work together and that's fine, but I can work with you and I can work with him" you suggested.

"Is that what you call it?" Dutch asked snappily.

"I'm just saying that this could be an opportunity...if nothing else it keeps the O'Driscolls off of our back" you shrugged.

"Why are you talking about this like it's a business deal rather than you trying to get my blessing?" Dutch asked with a sigh. Well, it was reassuring that his initial anger had started to fade.

"Because it's the only thing you will listen too" you sighed, knowing that he wouldn't like to hear that.

"What do you mean?" Dutch's brow furrowed in confusion.

"I could tell you about how good Colm is to me and how much he cares about me until I'm blue in the face but you won't care. You're angry and won't listen. But if I tell you that this could be good for you, for the gang, you'll think it over. Maybe not now but you will, you'll hear me and you'll listen. Hell, you might even allow it" you explained.
