My eyes are a dam that's struggling to hold;
The blood in my veins suddenly runs cold.
My stomach's in knots like a stubborn shoe lace;
I'm heartbroken I'll never again see your face.Been crying in my bedroom since I heard the news;
Silently sobbing; bewildered by the loss of you.
I haven't told my family that you're gone yet;
I don't want to ruin their day; I want to forget;
To forget that you couldn't forget;
To forget that you've been laid to rest.
There's now a story behind my sad eyes;
It's your story; one, I promise to tell with pride.How could you not have another sunrise?
Just yesterday; you promised you'd see me "tomorrow".
And I should've clung onto that for dear life;
A promise, we now know, that's been proven hollow.
May I fill up this empty space that you left;
With all of your love and all of your happiness.
As long as I stay standing on this earth;
I promise to never forget all that you are worth.I can see the year that you were born and the year that you died;
Oh, that hyphen sure does hold a magnitude of life.
I find comfort in the fact that your spirit remains;
Warming my heart on the coldest of days.
Find your way home and don't look back;
Cherish the memories of all that you had.
Run into the light to find closure;
You're almost there; you're that much closer.I wish every time I utter your name;
That it was tainted by the past tense.
And I wish I could've eased your pain;
That will forever be my one regret.
I'll smile as I remember our secrets;
I'll laugh as I look back on our memories.
I'll tell your story through my sad eyes;
I'll love you fiercely until the day I die.
