And we have a 100k reads 💃💃💃💃♥️♥️♥️😩😩😩
So here are the questions asked and my answers to them.
Q: Your School?
I'm a final year student at the University
Ilorin.Q: Tell us about yourself.
Hmmm, I'm a girl 😂😂. Okay, I'm a
bibliophile. I read a lot. My favorite
genre are teen fictions and thrillers. I
have a thing for historical fictions too.
I'm an advocate for mental health, SDG's
4 and 5 too. If I'm not reading, I'm
writing or watching kdrama.Q: When did you start writing?
A long time ago. I think I was 8 or 9. The
first story I remember writing was an
historical fiction. I wrote more than 20
stories when I was in Secondary school.
My classmates would read it and leave
their comments at the back of the story.
They were all preparing me for BTGOL, I
guess.Q: Was your secondary school life similar
to this in and what way?Yeah, there were lots of similarities
between my secondary school days.
Like the day they finished their external exams, what their Principal said to them
was exactly what our principal said to us
to and a couple of other things too.
Writing Behind the Gate of Lakeview
was like reliving my days at secondary
school.Q: Are there scenes that were totally
unplanned?Yeah, definitely. Infact, most scenes were
unplanned. Most times, I just start typing without a plan. Most things worked out
themselves. I guess it's all depends on the
gods of inspiration. Like the scene where
hugged for the first time, that was totally
unplanned. Ayisha and Akin becoming
an item were totally unplanned.Q: How many times did you ever think
of giving up this book? What stopped
from doing so?
I never thought of giving up BTGOL.
There was a time when the reads was
so low and I was so frustrated but that
still wasn't enough to make me think of
giving up the book.Q: How did you come about the title?
Hmm. I actually can't say. The title was
actually the first thing that came to me
even when I've not finalized the plot. I've
always had the name; Lakeview at the
back of my mind tho , it was the name of
an estate in a Ghanaian novel I read and I
fell in love with the name. So when I got
the idea of writing a secondary school
story, the title BEHIND THE GATE OF
LAKEVIEW was the first title that came to
mind.Q: Are there some personal experiences
you added in BTGOL?Yeah, like I said earlier, writing Behind
Gate of Lakeview was like reliving my
secondary school days. Most of the high
school drama were things that actually
happened. Though they were modified.Q: Do you think high school relationships
can lead to marriage?Yeah, it's very few but it happens. I have
an Aunty who started dating her
husband when she was in SS2, she was
15. Now, they have three kids.Q: Do you research your kissing scenes
or are they related to your real life
experience?😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 The funniest question
actually. I couldn't stop laughing when I
saw this question. I've never researched
my kiss scenes and yes, they're related to
my real life experiences but even much
more than that, I just know these things.
They're just spontaneous to write.Q: What was the last thing Michelle
wanted to talk about? She was going to apologize to Uthman.
She probably couldn't stand the LOHL
not talking to her. Shioo.Q: Was there any time you brought out a
real life situation or something you've
experienced during the writing
process of this book. If yes, was it
you or someone you know and what
particular event was that?Hmm, not exactly. Except some high
school drama that were based on what I
experienced, every other thing in the
book was fictitious.Q: If you want to rename your book, what
name would you give it?Because I've had this title for almost five
years, I've never actually thought of this
book having another title. To me, that's
the perfect title for the story.Q: How did you get all these ideas?
Well, it's the god of inspiration and
creativity and probably because I read a
lot too. When you read a lot, it naturally
makes your writing better.Hmm hmm
We've come to the ultimate end of BTGOL. My heart is heavy and I still can't believe this. It's a wrap and the fact that were actually ending this with a 100k reads in less than 8 months. Mehn, I never actually thought I was going to come this far when I started but then, because of every single person that read voted, commented and shared, BTGOL was able to come this far.
We'll see in Perfectly Imperfect though.
Peace out.
Ciao 😩😍🤗
