NATALIA FELT uneasy. She walked along side Cara and the Mandalorian behind Greef and his bounty hunters. Kuiil rode along side them on his one remaining Burg and the child's pod followed closely to it. But what made Natalia uneasy was the quiet conversations Greef was having with the bounty hunters were having ahead of them.
"You think they're having second thoughts?" Cara asked.
"Could be." The Mandalorian said. "I need your eyes."
"We're watching." Natalia reassured.
Her eyes haven't left the group in front of them since they had left their campsite and she had the feeling they weren't going to leave them until this "mission" was over. For the next three hours the group had walked towards the city. Whether Natalia will admit it out loud or not, her feet ached. Every step she took sent another ripple of pain throughout her foot and up her ankles so when Greef finally stopped you could say Natalia was happy about it.
Natalia stopped her steps beside the Mandalorian. The two bounty hunters had slowed to a stop behind them and Greef in front of them. Natalia's senses went into overdrive as she realized what was happening. She could feel the eyes trained on her from behind and knew they were reaching for their weapons.
"I guess this is it." Greef said as he overlooked the city below them.
Natalia whipped her blaster out just as fast as Greef had turned around. Two shots rang into the air and Natalia flinched at the sound, expecting to feel pain rippling throughout her body, but she felt nothing. Natalia looked down to see no wounds on her she looked to Cara and the Mandalorian to see them perfectly fine as well. It wasn't until two thuds sounded behind her that Natalia realized that Greef had shot the bounty hunters.
"There's something you should know." Greef said as he walked over to one of the dead bounty hunters. Natalia watched him as he flipped the body over with his foot to reveal the blaster still the hunter's hand. "The plan was to kill you and take the kid and girl. But after what happened last night, I couldn't go through with it."
Natalia raised one of her brows as he blaster remained aimed on Greef's head. She didn't trust the man at all and for all she knew this was just another trick. Clearly the Mandalorian and Cara thought the same because their blasters remained fixed on him as well.
"Go on. You can gun me down here and now and it wouldn't violate the code. But if you do it the child and the girl will never be safe." Greef questioned.
"I'll take my chances." Natalia declared as a glare settled on her face.
"The Imperial client is obsessed with obtaining these assets. You tried to run, but where did it get you?" Greef asked.
"This is ridiculous." Cara said.
"Perhaps you should let him speak." Kuiil argued, causing Cara to look at him like he was insane.
"Listen, we both need the client to be eliminated. Let me take the child and girl to him and then you two..." Greef started.
"No." The Mandlorian sternly cut him off.
"Let's just kill him and get outta here." Cara suggested.
"Sounds like a plan." Natalia said with a nod of her head. "Who wants to take the killing shot?"
"Nobody's killing anybody." The Mandalorian declared as he placed his baster back in it's holster.
A confused look formed on Natalia's face as she looked over to the Mandalorian, Cara doing the same. "Don't tell me you actually believe this shit."
"He's right." The Mandalorian said.
"What are you doing?" Cara asked.
"As long as the Imp lives, he'll send hunters after Natalia and the child." The Mandalorian explained.
"I can take care of myself." Natalia stated.
"And it's a trap." Cara added.
"Bring me." The Mandalorian said as looked away from Natalia and towards Greef, ignoring both of them.
"Bring you?" Greef asked with a puzzled look.
"Tell him you captured me. Get me close to him and I'll kill him." The Mandalorian stated.
"That's a good idea." Greef said with a nod. "Give me your baster."
The Mandalorian handed his weapon over faster than Natalia could even blink. She hadn't known the Mandalorian all that long but she figured with all gears working up there he'd at least have the common sense to not give his weapon over without a second thought.
"This is insane." Cara voiced Natalia's thoughts.
"It's the only way." The Mandalorian justified.
"Well, I'm coming with you." Cara sternly stated.
"No, no, no." Greef shook his head. "That would make them suspicious."
"Catching a Mandalorian and a war hero without a scratch is what would make them suspicious." Natalia argued as she placed her hands on her hips.
"Tell them she caught me." The Mandalorian said.
"Fine. Then she can bring the child." Greef sassed as he pointed to the kid who sat in it's pod.
"No." The Mandalorian spoke sternly. "The kid goes back in the ship."
"But without the child none of this works." Greef argued.
"I have a plan." The Mandalorian reassured. "Kuiil, ride back to the Razor Crest with the child and seal yourself in. When you're inside engage ground security protocols. Nothing on this planet will breach those doors."
Kuiil nodded and walked over to the Mandalorian, handing him something. "Here's a comlink. I will keep the child safe."
"Thank you." Natalia said with a small smile. Kuiil nodded to her then turned to Cara. "Don't forget to cover your stripes."
"Let's go." The Mandalorian said as he held a pair of handcuffs out to Natalia.
Natalia handed her blaster over to Cara then turned to the Mandalorian. She placed her hands out in front of her with a small sigh and the Mandalorian clipped the handcuffs around her wrists. Cara grabbed a piece of cloth and wrapped it around her stripes while Kuiil took the child out from the pod.
Natalia walked over to the small kid in Kuiil's arm and patted it on it's head. "You be good you little goblin." The child let out a giggle, causing a smile to grow on Natalia's face. "We'll be back as soon as we can." Natalia said as she looked to Kuiil.
"I have no doubts about it." Kuiil said with a small smirk.
"May the force be with you." Natalia said with a small nod of her head.
