The scene that greeted Alex in the kitchen was one of hilarious chaos. Her foster moms, Grace and Emma Stonewall-Smith were attempting to cook breakfast for six with half of the kitchen supplies still hidden in boxes. Her foster brother Jason, Grace's biological son from an event that occur before she met Emma, was attempting to do homework at the kitchen island but was being constantly distracted by the twins. Bridgit and Toby were fostered then adopted by Emma and Grace when the twins were 5. They were currently 9 and arguing over a 3DS.

"Stop it, Toby. It my shiny!" Bridgit yelled angrily.

"But I need it for my Pokedex!" Toby whined.

"No, I caught it. I don't want to trade!" Bridgit snarled. Alex met Emma's pleading eyes. Walking over, Alex snatched the 3DS out of their hands. Where a shiny Garchomp was the screen.

"Alex! Give it!" the twins yelled in unison.

"After breakfast," Alex said in bored tone, handing the 3DS to Grace.

"After we finish unpacking," Grace corrected giving her youngest kids a sharp glare and placed the gaming device on top of the fridge out of reach while also grabbing another one that had been abandoned on the counter and placing next to its twin. Toby turned his attention to his foster sister.

"Alex tell Bridgit to trade me her Garchomp!" He whined.

Alex raised an eyebrow, "why should I? Do you have something she wants in exchange?"

Toby turned to his sister, "I'll trade you my Sylveon."

Bridgit just scoffed, "Pass."

"Look Toby, why don't you just get your own Garchomp?" Alex asked.

"Cuz Bridgit's is shiny." Toby said as if that explained everything and his foster sister was dumb for even suggesting an alternative. "Come on Bridge. Please what do you want in exchange? I'll give you an Audino?"

"Ugh, no. Why would I trade a Dragon/Ground type for a boring Normal type?" They quickly started arguing about the merits of different types.

"Pups," Xandara chimed in. "Everyone knows Fire type is where it's at."

Rolling her eyes, Alex sat down and looked at her foster brother busy with homework. He and Alex were about the same age. Alex being a couple months younger.

"Dude, why are you doing homework?" she asked.

"We're coming into our senior year a month into the school year. I want to be completely caught up," Jason said not looking up. "I am going to graduate with a 4.0 even if it kills me."

Alex's eyes widened and mouthed 'Ok' before turning to her foster moms, "do you guys need any help?"

"Oh, look at this! The kid that's only been living with us for a year, is our most polite one!" Emma exclaimed, looking at the rest of the kids. Who promptly ignored her.

"No, thank you. Alex, we're almost done. Breakfast...I think is just going to be bagels and fruit." Grace answered. It was because of Grace that Alex even ended up living with the Stonewall-Smiths. She was a teacher at high school and often volunteered at an at-risk youth center in their old city. One night she had been out late at the center and was jumped on the way home. Alex was living on the streets at the time and came across the scene. Using her abilities, Alex easily chased off the gang. Unfortunately, however, Grace had slipped into a coma from her injuries. Alex stayed with her until the cops came but unfortunately, for Alex, the police believed that Alex was a member of the gang that assaulted Grace. They were unwilling to believe a street kid, so she was thrown into Juvie. While the only person who could exonerate her was languishing a coma.

It took over a week for Grace to wake up. Clearing up the situation, she was horrified to discover that her savior was in Juvie. After convincing her wife to foster the falsely imprisoned girl, they brought her into her home. Alex didn't think she would end up staying with the family. After all, going from having no family to a large one wasn't in her plans but as the days went on, she found herself pushing her plans to leave further and further back. First it was, might as well wait out the winter in a warm house. Then, might as well finish the school year. Alex then thought, well I shouldn't miss the twin's birthday, after all Bridgit seems to like me, it would rude to bail on her. Senior year is coming up, it would be nice to have an actual diploma rather than a GED or nothing at all.

Then 3 weeks previously, on Alex's 18th birthday, her foster moms announced that Grace got a new job as a teacher in a different town. They offered for Alex to move with them and continue living with them until she finished school. Which Alex agreed to. Surprising herself just as much as the Stonewall-Smiths.

They still didn't know Alex's secrets, the biggest of which were the facts that she was a hermaphrodite and a werewolf. Which Alex planned to keep that way. These were good people; they didn't need her troubles.
