When I Look In The Mirror

I was a man of no small reputation
But deep inside, I avoid repetition
Of doing things that gives me indignation
From people that will give correction
In every conduct that deserves damnation

"He's so perfect!" that's what I hear
According to them that whispers in my ear
But like a pelican in the ocean clear
I'm not immune to any fear
That lurking sharks impart when they're near

I was wise for a young guy
Too prim to make an outcry
An image they often pass by
Believing that I was so high
But underneath, I'm a bit of a sly

In their critical eyes, I am superior
But through my windows, I am inferior
It is not my intention to cause a furor
For I'm also a man who is insecure
Whenever I look in the mirror
