we went onto a terrace and watched people "flying"

teo had found katara a glider of her own and was teaching her how to fly it.

'the wind will carry you. it supports something inside you - something even lighter than air, and that something takes over when you fly.'

katara stood at the edge of the terrace, holding her glider.

'i've changed my mind. i think i was born without that something.'

'impossible! everybody has it.' said teo, grinning.

aang smiled, 'spirit.'

'what?' asked teo

'that's the something you're talking about.'

'yeah, i suppose it is.'

'are you ready?' said teo to katara

'no!'

but she jumped off anyway, screaming on her way down.

until she stopped to laugh, finally enjoying it.

i sat in the corner of the terrace, hitting stones across the ground.

i was still angry at what they'd done to the temple.

how could they just do that?

i couldn't believe it.

'Y/N' shouted aang, beckoning me over to him and teo.

'what do you say about opening the sanctuary?'

i smiled, hugging him.

'thanks aang'

he smiled nervously and we followed him down to the sanctuary.

'i can't believe i'm finally going to see what's inside.' said teo.

me and aang airbended two jets of air into the horns in the door.

it was similar to the door at the southern air temple in the style and the way it opened - with wooden blocks with air symbols on them, turnings around like locks.

the door opened.

and we were horrified.

inside it was not the history of my people.

instead, it was filled with fire nation war machines and torture devices.

'this is a nightmare.' said aang

i heard footsteps behind us and turned around, holding my staff in my hand.

'you don't understand.' said the teos dad.

'you're making weapons for the fire nation!'

'you make weapons for the fire nation!?' sokka said angrily from behind him.

'explain all this! now!' shouted teo.

'it was about a year after we moved here. fire nation soldiers found our settlement. you were too young to remember this tale. they were going to destroy everything, burn it to the ground. i pleaded with them, i begged them to spare us. they asked what i had to offer. i offered... my services. you must understand, i did this for you!'

teo looked away and his father walked back down the hall.

---

a while later, aang came down to the walkway we were on and told us about the fire nations plan to attack.

'this is bad! very bad!' said sokka.

'aang, what are we gonna do? how can we possibly keep them all away?' katara cried.
