First Place

What He Never Said by neurotick

Cover: 4/5

Grammar: 20/20

Plot: 25/25

Total: 49/50

Praise:

Hilarious, compelling, gut-wrenching, emotional. This is it folks. This is the one. Our main character Bowie Beaufort couldn't have been a better protagonist: in fact, if this awards book had a mini-contest for best male lead—which I'm actively considering after reading this entry—I'd be confident in Bowie's ability to win it. The pain of his burden is real and maintained so well throughout the story. It's not something that's briefly mentioned for the sake of a tragic past—no, neurotick keeps the emotions consistent and constant, yet we still watch Bowie emerge proudly as a developed, well-rounded character in the end. There had better be a sequel. —Felicia, General Fiction judge

Second Place

Charming Mr. Stewart by evacharya

Cover: 4/5

Grammar: 20/20

Plot: 24/25

Total: 48/50

Praise:

This story is probably as masterful as the wedding photos Elle takes as a profession. Teaming with emotion and enough family relationships to make you feel like you're in Elle's shoes, this book is an amazing blend of life, romance, career, and friendship. evacharya knows how to make characters speak to readers—and how to make readers speak to characters. Sometime in the middle, I realized I started talking to the screen because I wanted to communicate with the characters so much! — Felicia, General Fiction judge

Third Place

In Between The Lines by caCrisostomo

Cover: 4/5

Grammar: 19/20

Plot: 24/25

Total: 47/50

Praise:

Shakespeare just found a friend in the novel business. caCrisostomo will blow you away with the rhythm and rhyme in this book as we dive deep into the mentality of our two leads. Written in an archaic, beautiful, and unique style, the characters within this story are captivatingly well developed. Their sorrow has become my sorrow, their joys my joys. And I quote this book, "A pen without a nib is no pen at all." This is your nib, folks. Can't miss this. —Felicia, General Fiction judge
