Lin Yitian became crazy. His search gradually turned into him smashing every furniture inside the room, muttering "Jia" under his breath every time something broke.

Each time she didn't answer his calls, the worse his suspicions got.

For the fiftieth time, he dialed her phone number and called her.

For the fiftieth time, she didn't answer.

Lin Yitian's eyes flashed, and like a wounded beast, he hurled one of the couches against the aquarium, splintering the glass. Water began to pour out, but it was as if he didn't see it.

He smashed and broke and ripped everything, from the bedsheets to the large screen TV, and even his favorite books were not spared. Lin Yitian came out of his bedroom, breathing hard.

Methodically he began to break and smash everything with his feet and fists. The living room that had just been replaced with new furniture was destroyed again. All the maids fled as soon as they saw him, screaming and crying.

Lin Yitian wasn't aware that he was shouting Song Jia's name as continued on his rampage. Finally, when everything around him was broken, he collapsed on the floor as all the chairs and sofas were smashed beyond repair.

Lin Yitian faced the open front door, legs sprawled out, feeling numb and completely lifeless. His hands were bleeding.

After a while, he got up. He stood so still in the mess he made that he looked almost part of it. Lin Yitian opened a drawer where Wang Han had stored all the car keys.

And then he left through the front door.

...

Song Jia had no idea about what happened back at the mansion. Her phone battery had died, and in her hurry to pack her things, she forgot to bring her charger.

Song Jia planned to return home to get it, but for a while, she just sat eating street barbecue at the park. She was feeling a bit lazy and wanted some time for herself. Anyway, Su Qi probably wouldn't call her anytime soon.

A stray kitten curled up on the ground in front of her, its glowing eyes staring at the food in her hand.

Song Jia waved the barbecue in her hand. "Do you want it?"

The kitten turned his head away in dignified scorn.

Song Jia was a bit speechless. She plucked the meat off its skewer and chucked it in the cat's direction. Although she liked animals, she was slightly wary of strays because she knew they were aggressive to human contact.

But Song Jia's aim was bad and the meat landed too close to the cat. The kitten's hair stood on end as he hissed at her. He leaped off and scampered up a nearby oak tree.

"Wait!" Song Jia called out worriedly.

She knew that cats were natural aerialists, and high places like trees were their normal habitat. But that was only true for experienced cats, who already knew how to climb down. Cats climb a tree with their head upwards, and they must go down the same way. Kittens usually didn't know how to do this yet.

As expected, the kitten gripped the branch with all of his claws, flattening the ears on his head. He began mewing piteously.

Song Jia felt bad. "Alright, I'll come up, don't move a muscle."

She tied up her hair and carefully climbed up the tree. But as she advanced, the cat retreated, climbing even higher. After about thirty feet, with the cat still retreating, Song Jia stopped. She looked around for branches that would allow her to climb higher, but most of them looked too thin to support her weight.

"Great grandpa, can't you stop playing hard to get?" Song Jia looked up at the kitten and sighed.

She clung tightly to the branch underneath her and rested her cheek against the rough bark. Closing her eyes, she searched for her anti-gravity boots inside her storage space. When she finally found them, Song Jia sat up and leaned against the tree trunk as she pulled them on.

Her anti-gravity boots were in a dismal condition. Song Jia took off the shoes that she was wearing and dropped them on the ground. She couldn't store them inside her storage space because only items that had the same brand as her storage space ring would be allowed.

"Capitalists," Song Jia muttered under her breath.

With her anti-gravity boots on, Song Jia easily managed to catch the kitten. Fortunately, he didn't try to scratch her with its claws. When Song Jia safely climbed down the tree and breathed a sigh of relief, she frowned.

Why did she feel like there was something wrong? She pressed her hand against her heart.

But Song Jia quickly forgot about it as the kitten jumped out of her arms and ran away.

"Hey!"

Song Jia chased after it. She found that the kitten didn't go far, and had stopped at a sidewalk that was close to the intersection. Surprisingly, there was a large group of people huddled there.

"A car accident?" Song Jia frowned.
