THE BALL WAS IN CHAOS. When Carly had responded with "I have a plan" and a mischievous smile, Albany hadn't exactly pictured that twenty minutes later fifty people would be running around bald and screaming, but it did the job.

So how did a tiny, innocent French girl crash the Yule Ball?

"I need to get to Fred," Carly had explained under her breath. "He is part of the plan."

"Alright," Albany agreed, a little confused but eager nonetheless to see how her plan would unfold.

The two had gradually danced their way across the hall to Fred and Angelina, feeling rather like secret agents infiltrating the ball. The couple was in the middle of a passionate snog, and Albany winced, clearing her throat as she and Carly bumped into them.

"Oi, lovebirds!" she hissed, and they broke apart immediately, Fred's ears donning a shade that challenged that of his hair.

"We're a bit busy," Angelina argued, slightly flustered as she continued to waltz. "What is it?"

Carly raised her eyebrows at Fred. "Operation Rescue George is a go," she whispered, a grin of pure mischief dancing on her lips. "You have the pills, oui?"

"Oui," Fred replied with a broad smirk. He reached into the pocket of his dress robes, pulling out a small, creamy-coloured tablet, then frowned, checking his pocket for more. "Oh. Just one."

Carly shrugged, glancing over Albany's shoulder to where Faith and George were dancing. "One will do."

Fred pouted. "One is boring." He quirked an eyebrow at the curly-haired girl. "Hey, you have that duplication spell, right?"

Carly sighed. "Yes," she admitted, shaking her head. "How many do you need?"

"As many as you can get me," Fred responded, grinning like a shark.

"What's happening?" a new voice whispered, and Albany turned around, alarmed, to see the curious face of Ginny Weasley glancing between the group as she and Neville danced their way over.

"Nothing, Gin, nevermind," Fred replied quickly.

Ginny raised an eyebrow at her brother, clearly knowing him too well. "Yeah, right," she scoffed. "I'm not gonna snitch on you, dumbass, I want in. You're pranking someone, right?"

Angelina rolled her eyes in amusement. "Isn't he always?"

"Alright, fine, whatever," sighed Fred. He glanced over to his twin, then, and Albany could see the gears turning in his head. "Actually, Ginny, you might come in handy. See the girl over there? George's date?"

Albany bit her cheek, staring at her toes as Ginny scoped out their target.

"Dark hair, black dress?"
