My eyes flutter open due to the bright sunlight that seeped through the rather large window, allowing me to take in my surroundings. I feel the warm hands wrapped around my waist which immediately remind me of the night before.

Before I can even process the flood of feelings about the man intertwined with me I hear a buzzing from the floor, which is my phone from my jeans pocket. I carefully slide from his hands, pausing as he moves just a bit. I continue when his movements pause, assuming he drifted back to sleep.

I was just in some oversized dark tee and just my underwear. Thank god. I hurriedly grab my phone from my pocket, kinda getting annoyed by the noise and really hoping it doesn't wake up the sleeping hybrid.

I read the caller Id.

Bunny Muncher

I answer the call.

"Hi Stefan." I speak- somewhat quietly, absentmindedly approaching the tall window that had allowed so much sunlight in.

"Where the hell have you been Scarlett. You just vanished once we got home this morning. We've literally been blowing up your phone-"

"I went out for breakfast and got a little distracted. My phone was muted sorry." I trail my fingers across the thick and rather expensive looking curtains. Not like I was gonna say 'Just fooling around with your arch nemesis after he possessed our friend's body.'

"You're all good- just scared me. You know with everything going on-"

"I'm fine, Stefan. How's Elena?" Changing the subject to my sister was always my go to. She always had something going on that could lead the convo away from me.

"We're fine- she's fine. Just a lot of stuff she has to get used to."

"Well thats good." I shrug.

"Make sure you're ready for the memorial. Jeremy said something about Pastor Young's daughter being back in town- said she wanted to see you." My mind goes blank for only a second before it dawns on me. April Young. We were quite the pair in middle school. Didn't stay in touch when she left despite our 'best friend' status.

Seriously hope she got rid of that emo pixie haircut. Atrocious.

"April, yeah yeah. I'll need a ride to the funeral thing though- unless you can compel me a drivers license and a car in under an hour."

"I'll drive you."

"Thanks. I'll be home soon. bye." I quickly end the call.

"I thought you'd never hang up." Klaus muses from the bed making me quickly turn on my heel in slight shock.

"Sorry." I mutter reproaching the bed where he leaned against the headboard, a small smile played at his lips. He looked almost like a painting. A murderous painting.

"You have a funeral to attend?"

"I guess so." I say, reaching down to grab the pair of jeans lying on the floor.

"You could stay a little longer." He's suddenly out of the bed and standing in front of me, wearing only a pair of grey sweats- a sight I never thought I'd see. Not complaining though.

"Don't you have to flee or something." His fingers are rubbing small circles on my waist making my heart beat quicken.

He hums.

"I do." Yaknow despite my whole 'leave and forget about whatever we have' attitude I still feel a little disappointed. I back away, making his grip drop.

"Then I should probably go." I say, slipping my jeans back on and avoiding his gaze. Didn't really think this out- did I? When I look back up to him his eyes are already on mine. It looked as if he were debating something. Maybe even longing for something.
