We sat on our beds in the room, talking about what went down during the test.
"My whole body was covered in these little insects," Al said. "They were in my throat. I couldn't breathe."
"Yeah, I heard about this guy two years ago who had a heart attack during his test and almost died," Will added.
"What?!" Christina gasped, her eyes wide with fright.
"Yeah, so I guess we've got that to look forward to," Will said with a chuckle.
"You didn't seem to have any problem at all," Christina pointed out.
"Me?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "No. Oh my god, it was awful. I was in a coffin, literally being buried alive. It was not fun."
"Oh, come on, no one even came close to your time," Al said, his tone light. "You were amazing."
I guess he was right. I was only in there for about five to seven minutes, while everyone else's times were closer to 15 or 20 minutes.
"Yeah, what's amazing is that she's going to knock you right out of Dauntless," Peter said, walking up to us.
"She's not gonna knock me out," Al shot back.
"She's gonna go from one of the worst to one of the best," Peter mocked.
"Someone's gotta take her place at the bottom," he added with a smirk.
"Who's it gonna be?" he asked, his eyes lingering on me.
"Do you ever shut up?" Christina snapped.
"Don't listen to him, Al," I reassured him. "You're gonna make it. We all are."
Later, I found myself running down a hallway. When I turned to my left, I saw my friends and Eric standing there, but I couldn't get to them.
A glass wall blocked me, and I banged on it, yelling, "HEY!" They looked at me, laughing and whispering to each other.
I looked down, and the next thing I knew, I was in a small box, rapidly filling up with water.
"No, no, no!" I cried out, banging on the glass. But it didn't break. The water kept rising, and I couldn't stop it.
Seconds later, I was completely submerged. I tapped on the glass, and it cracked slightly. I kept hitting it, over and over, until finally, it shattered.
I woke up gasping, disoriented. I scrambled to sit up, my heart racing. "Where am I?" I said, panicking.
"Hey, hey, it's okay. You're okay," Eric said softly, placing his hand on my shoulder to calm me down.
"How did you do that?" Eric asked, his voice low. Four stood nearby, watching me closely.
"Do what?" I asked, confused.
"How did you break the glass?" Four repeated, his eyes searching mine.
"I don't know. I just did it," I said, still trying to catch my breath.
"You just did it?" Eric asked, raising an eyebrow.
He turned around and shut off the computer before turning back to me. "What were your test results?" he asked, sitting down.
"Abnegation," I replied, my voice shaky.
"I don't think so," Eric said, his gaze sharp. My heart skipped a beat. He was one of the leaders—what if he found out I was Divergent and killed me?
"I think you're lying to me," Eric said, staring me down.
"I'm not lying to you," I insisted.
He leaned in slightly, his tone harder. "I'm gonna ask you one more time. What were your test results?"
