Coffee with Akaashi.
The three days in between the invitation and the actual date crawled by at the speed of a drunk snail. (I saw this somewhere and since then I loved it so much I'm using this in nearly all my fanfics-)
Your tutoring sessions with Akaashi were becoming less and less frequent because of the increased training before the away games. At least he told you to your face instead of over text, and apologised too. He promised to make some time to teach you between the camps.
In addition to that, this week you became a manager. You finally got to meet the rest of the Fukurodani team.
You had to restrain yourself from hugging the human-owls.
Oh my god, I love this team so much.
You did some basic stuff - help Yukie with noting down moves and attack patterns, refill water bottles and check for new first-years with Kaori.
You enjoyed the work - it took your mind off the fact that Akaashi may not like you back. More so because spending time with the team was great, Kaori and Yukie were nice and you didn't feel as lonely.
The doorbell rang and you were still in the bathroom brushing your teeth.
You spat out the water you were rinsing your mouth with in surprise, then ran to answer the door.
"Konoha-san?"
"Yo!"

"Um...why are you here?" you asked, frying an egg.
The opposite hitter of Fukurodani made himself comfortable at your table, wearing cargo pants and a t-shirt with an ace card on it. He had thrown his baggy jacket around the chair he sat on.
"I happened to be passing by, and I decided to pay a visit!"
"Uh-huh." You eyed him skeptically while lowering the egg onto a plate.
"Okay, fine. Akaashi told me you guys were going out, and I wanted to bring you there! I really want to see where he would take girls. He's kinda popular, ya know."
"Really?" You were genuinely interested.
"To my knowledge, he's never been on a date with someone. I don't know. But this isn't really a date, is it? I mean." Konoha paused to take a bite out of a grilled cheese sandwich he miraculously produced. "You guys are just friends, right?"
"Yeah, we are." You didn't like to lie, though it made you kind of sad that you admitted that. The feeling of having something you could never have bubbled up inside you. You took the fried egg and a fork before going to sit beside Konoha.
"Are you actually going to wear that out?" He finished the rest of his sandwich.
You looked down at your clothes. Casual, but not informal. Effortless but not lazy. "Yeah. I think I'm good." You finished the egg.
Konoha blinked. "Okay. What's the address? Akaashi said it's a surprise when we tried to invite him somewhere today, yesterday. That's how I know about this."
You showed him the text message.
He nodded. "Oh, okay, I know where that is. I'm actually going to go there too, so I'll walk you there." He removed his jacket from the seat back. "Ready to go?"
You ran into the kitchen, dumped the fork and plate then ran back. "Let's go."
○
"Are we there yet?" you whined.
"Be patient! Just two more minutes." Konoha continued walking.
"You said that fifteen minutes ago! Aren't you old enough to drive? You're a third year!"
"About that...my birthday isn't over yet, so..." He smiled sheepishly.
You sighed and ran to catch up with him.
He pointed to a small sign up ahead. "There! There it is!"
You squinted to try and read it.
"Owl...Café?"
