Kabanata XII: Almost Caught

Athyeia's PoV

Happier dead?

So Athyeia Abarca was happier dead?

Why?

Mahal na mahal niya si Levi. Tingin ba ni Levi ay mas magiging masaya si Athyeia ng wala siya??

"You seem pale." Biglang puna ni V na nagpabalik saakin sa katotohanan. I gave him a smile. "Something wrong?"

"Nothing." Halata sa pagtitig saakin ni V na hindi siya naniniwala sa sagot ko. I should change the topic.

"You seem awfully curious about Prince Azturias." May himig ang boses nitong sabi. His eyes slowly forming into slits.

Nakakahalata ba siya??

"Well I am curious as to why he is like that." Naalala ko naman iyong naririnig kong pinaguusapan ng mga tao noong isang beses na lumabas kami ng bahay. It was a memory of Athyeia when she was still a child. "I heard noong bata pa ako na pinatay daw niya ang kaniyang nanay."

"Mm..."

"He can't be a complete monster you know. Walang nilabas sa publiko kung papaano namatay ang reyna but I'm sure na kahit walang awa daw iyong si Prinsipe Levi ay may dahilan siya. He is a complex man."

"Have you seen him yet?" I turned my head from left to right.

Actually, dinescribe noon si Levi sa libro but I didn't care. Ininmbento ko nalang ang itsura niya saaking isipan.

"Nope. Inimagine ko nalang that he is probably blonde, has blue eyes, and probably white skin." I described the Levi I thought of habang inaalala iyong ginawa kong pagbabasa dati.

"What?!" He snickered.

"Well. Diba ganoon madalas ang prinsipe sa fairytales??" Masaya kong sabi ng nakapeace sign. "Say," I stared at V. Napansin ko nanaman ang feautures niya. "You will be the complete opposite of him. You have black hair and red eyes. Skin color nyo lang ata ang magkatulad." I pointed out at him.

"Was that good?"

"Of course! If Levi Azturias looked like you, he would be completely scary! Mas lalong aayaw ko siyang makilala."

"Does that mean you are scared of me?" I laughed.

"You are not Levi Azturias so why would I be?" I smiled at tinusok iyong pisngi niya. "Isa pa, ganan ang itsura mo but you are very kind. Tinulungan mo nga ako diba??" Paalala ko sa kaniya. "Tsaka.... I doubt it that he'll have as many expressions as you do."

From the corner of my eyes, I saw him smirked. Or imagination ko lamang iyon??

"Really?" Tanong niya. I can't seem to fathom that something behind his smile but I'll just take it that he is happy.

"Really."

"Binibini???" Natahimik agad ako ng marinig ang pagtatawag ni Laura.

"Tha—" Hinigit ko ang leeg ni V pababa saaking tiyan at tinakluban ang kaniyang bibig.

Tiningnan ko ang ulo ni V na nasa lap ko at linapit sa kaniya ang aking mukha para hindi ako marinig ni Laura saaking sasabihin. "Shh.." I told him.

Halata sa panlalaki ng mga mata niya ang pagkagulat sa ginawa ko pero lumayo din naman agad ako while still covering his mouth.

"Binibining Athyeia nasaan na po kayo??" Muling sigaw ni Laura. She seemed to be finding me, at base sa tono ng kaniyang paghahanap ay hindi niya narinig ako o si V.

"Ugh! Baka kung ano nanamang mangyari kay Binibini! Kasalanan to ng Doktor Jah na iyon e!!" Rinig ko pang pagmomonologue niya kaya hindi ko mapigilang mapatwa ng lihim.

Nako, nako. Ganyan din sila noong una. I mean si Hyacinth at Jeremiah.

"Bini....shxhxb." I breathed a sigh nang lumayo na ang boses ni Laura.

"Sorry!" I immediately told V. I held him away from me at nilinis iyong parte ng collar niyang medyo nadumihan. "I really am. Ayaw ko lang kasi ng laging may nakasunod saakin. Hindi ako sanay."

"Why not tell them??" He questioned.

"Because that's not like Athyeia." I said pertaining to the real Athyeia.

Athyeia was never a problem child. She never complained, nor wished for something.

"Shall you go now? It's almost lunch time." Saad ni V at tumingin sa kaniyang pocket watch.

Nanlaki ang mga mata ko. "My mother might be worried. Tama ka, kailangan na nating umalis." Dirediretsyo kong sabi. Ayaw kong pagalalahanin pa si mama, halata sa kaniya ang pagkakulang sa tulog, ayaw ko nang dumagdag pa sa kaniyang isipan.

V stood first, he held his palm towards me.

"Thank you." I happily said and smiled. Grabe, wala nang ganito sa current time. Or wala lang akong nakikita at naeexperience?

Never pa akong nagkajowa e. Haha!

"Prinsipe?"

Levi's PoV

I can't help but feel wronged about my suspiscions of the lady in front of me.

Or is this still a part of a play??

Napahinga ako. Tunay bang hindi niya kilala si Levi Azturias?

Will she still be like this if she knew the truth??

What if she does??

Why do I even care?

Everyone is just a pawn in this game called life. Even her.

The only thing that matters is me carrying out all of my duties.

Athyeia Abarca doesn't matter.

"Prinsipe?" My eyes widened when a face of a gardener suddenly showed up.

Athyeia immediately hid behind me. "Nandiyan si Levi?" She whispered.

"Magandang Tanghali po sainyo." Masayang pagbati ng hardinero.

Imbes na sumagot dito ay marahan at tumango din ako ng kaunti. I put my arms in a way that Athyeia can't peek.

"Magandang tanghali po mahal na prinsipe." The gardener looked shock on what I did.

"...." He is even out of words.

I placed my forefinger on my lips. I gave him my normal authoritative cold expression while looking straightly at him.

Wala pang segundo ay tumatango-tango na ito saakin. I motioned him to go away which he did.

"Masusunod po mahal na prinsipe." I said. I need to escape from Athy and talk privately to that gardener to keep his mouth shut.

Seeds that you do not want to grow are better off burned.

"Nakaalis na ba siya?" Athyeia said and then peeked in.

"Yes." I lied. "I'll go first, klaseng may iniuutos siya saakin." Athy nodded at me.

"Okay, salamat talaga V! Hayaan mo, when I see you again, may ibibigay ako sa'yo." She sweetly promised. Is she really that scared of Levi? To the point that she want to give me a gift? "Go now, baka mapaano ka pa." Saad niya at marahan akong tinulak palayo. I gazed at her from the back. "See you."

I wasn't able to talk back when she turned away from me first.

When she disappeared in my sight I took deep breaths.

What happened to the fact that she doesn't matter?

I want her gift.
