False Love - Rúmil x Reader

So this is a Rúmil oneshot (Rúmil is Haldir's younger brother) and I hope you enjoy it! I might work on an Orophin one soon (Orophin is Haldir's other younger brother). I wrote this because I haven't found a single Rúmil oneshot on here and I had a plot idea.

Mornings in Lothlórien looked beautiful. Everything looked golden, the sun shone in on the trees, and everything was serene. But what you hated about the mornings was that the elf you love, Rúmil, would leave you, and he'd be away until very late at night. Even when you saw him in the afternoon, he's not with you.

"I must be with Haldir and Orophin. I'll see you tonight." he always claimed. You were suspicious. Was his love for you true? Why does he always have to leave? Simply thinking about this made you upset.

This morning, Rúmil laid by your side in bed. He was going to leave to work soon, so you appreciated this moment, as you probably weren't going to see him until you are about to go to sleep. The ellon opened his eyes, seeing your small smile. Your head rested on his chest and he had his arms around your waist.

"Melamin?" Rúmil muttered. "Are you awake?"

You moved your head from his chest to look into his eyes. "Yes I am." you said in a low whisper.

"I need to go to work. I will see you later." Rúmil spoke ever so softly into your ear. "I love you."

"I love you more." you whispered. "See you tonight." Rúmil got up and left the bed. He got dressed in another room and left, leaving you alone in your bedroom. That elf was probably going to make another excuse to not see you in the afternoon again. You had enough of it.

It's not the fact that he likes to spend time with his family that was the problem. It was that you rarely saw him. You miss him every time he leaves, and he most likely did not miss you. Tears started forming in your eyes as you thought about Rúmil.

This afternoon, you caught Rúmil trying to avoid you. When you saw him frustratedly mutter something, you felt a sharp pain in your heart. "Rúmil. Be honest with me." you told him with a stern tone in your voice. "Why do you never want to spend time with me?"

"Because I need to see my family. They are important to me." Rúmil explained.

"Begging your pardon, but you see them every day at work! You don't need to see them every day during the afternoon!" you snapped. "I thought you love me and love spending time with me, but I suppose I was wrong." Your eyes watered, and them you soon burst into tears.

"I do love y--" Rúmil could not finish his sentence, as you interrupted him.

"Do you truly, Rúmil? Then how come you seem to avoid me?" you sobbed. "I can't believe you anymore. And yet I still seem to love you... you- you snake!"

The ellon put his arms around your body so you could be closer to him. He leaned down and slowly planted kisses on you. "I promise you, you are the light of my life, and I love you with all of my heart. But I can't be with you all the time." he said.

"What do you mean you can't see me all the time?" you asked. "You rarely see me, and spend your entire day in who knows where while laughing at the fact that you tricked me into thinking you loved me. Perhaps, since you hate seeing me so much, we should never see each other again. Tonight, we sleep in separate beds in separate homes, and we'll do this every night from now on."

Rúmil moved his face down to your neck. "Please don't do this. I swear... I love you." he whispered to your neck, making you uncomfortable. You pushed him away.
