This oneshot might contain some spoilers of The Silmarillion so if you haven't read it yet, I suggest that you skip this. Also, I definitely recommend the book, it's really good.

It was very late at night, and you suddenly woke up to the sound of music. And then you heard some singing. You were curious as to what that was coming from, so you walked outside, only to see your love, Maglor, gently pluck the strings of his harp while singing a song. The moon shone and the stars glittered. It was quite a beautiful night. He didn't notice you approach him, until you sleepily laid a hand on his arm.

"What are you doing awake at this hour, melamin?" he asked with his soft voice. "You look so sleepy."

"I heard music coming from outside. I knew that it was you, but I still had to make sure." you yawned. "Why do you play your harp so late at night? Come, it's time to sleep."

"I just want to play in the moonlight." Maglor explained. "The stars tonight are breathtaking. Just examine them for a moment and see how they twinkle in the sky." He faced you, and carefully moved some of your hair out of your face.

Looking up at the sky, you noticed the stars and found that Maglor was right. The stars really are breathtaking. The ellon continued to play his harp. He was so talented and his singing voice was clear and simply amazing.

The music was calming, as it made your breathing slow down, meaning you felt much more relaxed. It also made you grow slightly more sleepy until you felt exhausted. But you did not want to sleep at the moment. You wanted to watch and listen to Maglor play his instrument and sing.

Recently, times have been difficult in Middle-earth. Ever since you first left Valinor, evil seemed to be everywhere. Morgoth and his forces were lurking around the place, and many people have died in battles fought. Soon, some of the battles won't be caused by the dark lord, you feared.

Maglor, his brothers, and his father swore to slay anyone who kept at least one of the precious Silmarils away from them. They swore to Eru Ilúvatar himself. Obviously, this oath that was taken was going to cause tension and killing, and you hoped that Maglor wouldn't be slain in battle.

At the moment you had none of those dreadful things on your mind, as you focused on the dark-haired elf's song. "My moon and stars, you play so well." you told him. Maglor gave you a sweet smile.

"Why thank you, dear." he said. "I'm glad you enjoy my harp playing." You yawned and stretched as he spoke. "You need rest. I suggest that you go and wind down for the night. I'll be with you soon."

"No, no, mell nin, I wish to stay with you." you said.

Maglor continued to play, and you stared out into the distance. It became so late and you became so tired that your beloved had to carry you to bed and then go to sleep. As you were so weary, that moment felt so hazy, almost dream-like.

The next morning, you saw Maglor sit nearby the bed. He noticed that you were awake, and said, "Calan vaer, melamin." You stood up and walked to him.

"Calan vaer, melamin." you said.

The sun shone brightly with a few clouds covering the blue sky. Today looked marvellous. Despite the perfect day for a nice dance, or a romantic date, Maglor had to leave for important matters with his brothers. He is a busy elf, especially now.

"I promise you I will be back." Maglor softly told you. "When I come back tonight, we should dance under the moonlight. I have a feeling that tonight will be a good night." He quickly kissed your temple and left.

Sometimes you wished that he didn't have to leave so you can just spend so much time with him. But you cannot control his life and what happens to him, so you always just dealt with your longing to see him all day.

In the evening, Maglor was still away. You prepared yourself a drink and sat outside, waiting. As you trusted him, you knew that he was going to return. He always returned.

Then the moon and the stars were in the sky. Noticing a small light in the distance, you expected that Maglor was finally returning. Luckily, it was him hurrying home to see you. The dark-haired elf ran to you, and you to him. When you two were close enough, you two embraced each other.

"At last! You are home." you sighed. "I missed you, even though you were only gone for several hours."

"I missed you as well. You were never off of my mind." Maglor told you. He kissed your forehead and took your hand. You nearly forgot that he told you that when he returns, he was going to dance with you under the pale light of the moon.

On a grassy field, the ellon gently took your hands and slowly danced and sung a song. Maglor's melodious voice was so spellbinding. He leaned in closer to you and whispered kind things into your ear. They varied from compliments to poems he wrote for you.

The night was still young, and everything was still. There was a bit of light from the moon and it was quiet, just the way you liked it. It reminded you that there's still serenity on Middle-earth, even if there isn't much of it.

"I love the way you shine in the night." Maglor told you. "And in the day, too."

"I love the way you are gentle. When I first met your brothers, I noticed that they were fiery and some were quick to anger." you said. "But you are kind and patient. Especially with the people and things you care about."

"I've been told that I inherited that nature from my mother." Maglor was the second son of Fëanor, meaning that his mother is Nerdanel. You've never met her before, but you knew that she is a wise elf with a skill for sculpting.

"I thank her for giving you her kindness." you muttered. "Now, melamin, allow us to continue dancing..." The two of you danced the night away, forgetting about all of the current troubles in the lands of Middle-earth.
