Later that day Nick had brought Vanessa to the house Celina and Robin gifted her that was near Evie's castle where everyone else was in.

Ever since Nick laid his fiance on the bed he's been thinking so much about the decision they made. He knew that closing the barrier wouldn't be the solution it couldn't be.

Him and Ben started this whole thing to help the children of the Isle and when they forgot their previous plans Vanessa was the one to open his eyes again.

Children in the Isle shouldn't have to suffer being locked up there forever no one deserves that. Last thing he wanted to do was close the barrier forever because he knew this would destroy the children of the Isle and it would break Vanessa.

Nick knew how important this is for her to get the children a chance of happiness and freedom, it was the same vision he and Ben had for the children. 

They couldn't just break the promise they had told everyone it was ridiculous to do so but he also remembered that he had to protect his people that's what a king does.

"But they're our people as well. . ." Nick mumbled to himself as he paced around in the room thinking to himself. "There has to be another way to keep our promise while protecting everyone." He shook his head as he ran his hand through his hair but soon he heard a small groan coming from Vanessa. "Nick?" Vanessa mumbled as she sat up looking over to him.

"Hey, mon amour." Nick smiled softly as he went to sit next to her. "What happened? And what time is it?" Vanessa asked him as she was confused why she felt tired. 

"It's past the afternoon right now. And earlier today my father gathered us all to discuss everything that happened with Hades and then-. . ." Nick started to explain but then he remembered that she had no idea what the majority decided on and he couldn't tell her any of this as they promised their father.

"And then what?" Vanessa tilted her head as she noticed the battle he held in his eyes.

"Then Ben and I got a message from the museum saying that someone stole Maleficent's scepter and one of the Queen crowns." Nick told her instead but it pained him to do so she is going to be one of the future queens and she had the right to know. "Oh gosh." Vanessa mumbled as she ran her hands through her hair in worry.

"Everyone was talking about. . . closing the barrier. . ." Nick informed her but he couldn't tell her that everyone decided to close it forever because he wasn't for that though his disagreement was overruled by everyone he was about to take those children's happiness.

"Well I get that for a couple weeks, three to five weeks at the most, the program will be pushed back just to calm everyone down." Vanessa nodded as she thought it'd be pushed back.

"Yeah. . ." Nick mumbled with a small head shake as he stood up. "Hey, can I ask why I don't remember this meeting one bit?" Vanessa asked her fiance as she couldn't bring herself to remember a single second of that meeting in her mind.

Nick shut his eyes for a quick second internally screaming at himself hating what he's about to do. This wasn't right to do closing the barrier or lying to the love of his life.

"Um, you kind of fainted in worry after finding out the news. I guess it took a toll on you." Nick turned back to her as he explained to Vanessa.

"Hm, that's odd I've never fainted in my life but it makes sense. I would feel so upset knowing the VKs are going to wait for a bit for their dream to come true." Vanessa responded to him as she confused on why she fainted but if she found out the reason she'd do that exactly.

For a while they just stayed in silence as Vanessa processed all this with sadness but she couldn't wait till this passes over so they can continue with the program while Nick was deep in his thoughts thinking what is he going to tell her how could they still help the children of the Isle.

"You know I love you right?" Nick asked her as he crouched down in front of her. "Of course." Vanessa nodded as how could she forget they tell each other everyday how much they love each other.

"I would never want to do anything to hurt you. Ever." Nick shook his head as he took hold of one of her hands. "Nick what's going on? You're kind of worrying me." Vanessa furrowed her eyebrows as she was wondering why he was acting like this.

"I just want you to know that. . . I'll do whatever I can to help those children. Nothing will stop me from helping them and even if you hate me after everything I will still try to help them." Nick explained to her as he looked into her eyes but he knew that whatever happens he'll do everything in his power to help the children of the Isle.

"Hate you? Nick what are you talking about? I can never hate you." Vanessa looked at him as if he was insane for thinking that. "You don't know that." Nick sighed lowly as he had a distraught expression.

"Remember everything that happened before when Mal returned to the Isle or when we had that huge fight before she left?" Vanessa reminded him as she played with his hand.

"Yeah how could I not." Nick nodded as he thought back to that whole fiasco. "Well, we had a very huge hardship there that did take a toll on our relationship .  .  . but I never hated you. Was I beyond mad that you didn't listen to me? Absolutely." Vanessa explained to him before she questioned him and answered herself causing the couple to share a chuckle.

"But I never hated you. I love you too much to hate you. Can I promise that I won't be mad at you if you do something stupid? No." Vanessa shook her head as she held his hand with a small smile.

"I love you and I will let you do whatever you want to me when I do something stupid." Nick smiled as he cupped her cheek trying to savor the happiness before everything goes downhill.

"I'm going to set your butt on fire like I do to Jay and Carlos. Sometimes even Henry but that's just because he annoys me sometimes." Vanessa told him with a serious expression knowing with her temper that'll happen. "Fair enough." Nick chuckled as he stood up in front of her.

"I love you, Vanessa." Nick cupped her face as he told her seriously hoping she remembers that. "I love you, Nick." Vanessa smiled as she brought him closer to her so they'd share a kiss.

She loved him and he knew that but now he had to worry about when she'd remember and Nick was certain she would. Though it would break him if she'd hate him after she found out he'd rather have her know the truth than never knowing at all.
