With MC's immense charms, and a small promise to stand in line at Anidaemon for hours to get anime merchandise, he managed to convince Levi to go ice skating with him.
Each of them agreed to go late in the night, so that no one would be around to get in their way, or make Levi feel anxious.
"I dunno about this whole normie skating thing," Levi mumbled, feigning boredom to cover up his nervousness. "Not really sure why you decided to take me with you."
"Because I like you," MC simply replied, making his way towards the rink. "And I like skating. So why not combine the two?" It was refreshing to feel the blade of his skate click against the cold floor of ice. He was ready to skate away, but Levi stopped him.
"Hey!" He huffed, tightly gripping MC's arm for balance. "Where are you going?! I don't know how to do this!" Levi struggled to walk on normal land with the skates on, so his hope for balancing on the ice was non-existent.
MC looked back at him, with his stiff awkward posture, and his cute scarf, and felt some sort of adoration. "Alright, let's take this slowly, then." He gently advised. "Try taking a step on the ice."
Leviathan hesitated for a while, taking a deep breath to steady himself and prepare for this new challenge. It's just a step!
"You've got this, Levi."
His words of reassurance was all Levi needed to find a morsel of courage in his heart. He took a step.
And immediately lost balance and fell forward. "EEK-!"
MC caught him and held him around his waist so he didn't slip onto the floor. He couldn't stifle his laugh, and giggled through his words. "Pff- Levi-! Haha-! Are you ok?"
"Don't laugh at me! You're supposed to be supportive here!"
"You made an attempt," was the thoughtful response he offered. "At least you tried! That was great."
"Ugh, lord... sure, a great failure." Levi pessimistically sighed.
"Well you've gotta be bad at things before you get good at them. Like with games, right?"
He scrunched his nose. "Well I guess..."
"Alright then. You're coming with me!"
"What?!"
He gripped onto Levi's arms, who held him back, frantically trying to stay up. After a moment of flailing and slipping, he finally steadied his legs. "This is a lot harder than I thought..."
"Mm, well it is your first time skating." MC reassured. "C'mon, take lil' steps and don't let go."
"Wait- how's this going to work if you're standing in front of me?"
"I'm going to skate backwards?" MC thought that was obvious.
"WHAT?!"
He giggled at his surprise. "What do you mean 'what'?"
"You can just DO that?!"
"I- uhm- yes?" He laughed. "It's not that hard once you get the hang of it. It's like walking, but not walking."
"Walking but not walking..." Levi softly smiled. "Alright, that doesn't make sense but whatever."
"It will make sense! It's like you push your feet forward instead of picking them up and pressing back."
"Now you're just confusing me!!" He lightheartedly complained.
"Well I'm going now." MC slowly skated backwards, giving Levi the room to take wobbly steps forward. His sunset eyes focused on the ground, being very careful not to slip and fall. Meanwhile, MC watched his intense expression with soft content.
There were a few times where Levi slipped and skidded or loss balance, but his companion was there to catch him each time.
After slowly going around the rink several times, Leviathan's pace picked up. He was still awkward and unsure, but his odd wide steps became something that actually somewhat resembled skating. "You're doing great, Levi," MC earnestly said.
"Th-thanks. I need a break after that."
"Bench time it is!" MC helped lead him off of the ice and towards the benches. Levi didn't know how to stop, so he made sure to slow down with him and hold him steady once they got on normal ground. "Thanks for coming with me."
They still walked arm in arm, even while off of the ice. "Yeah! It was actually kinda fun. I don't mind trying these things as long as it's with you..."
The two undid their skates and relaxed bench together in their socks. Levi tiredly leaned on his human's shoulder and scrolled through devilgram. While quietly watching Levi like posts and comment on anime news pages, MC contemplated how he was going to have to wait in line at Anidaemon next week like he promised. He noticed how Levi swung his legs back and forth like he did when he was excited, and it made him glad that he'd invited him, and that they got to spend this time together. It was definitely all worth it in the end.
