Dr. Starline searched the ground below, a grappling hook dangling from his roughly constructed flying device. He'd managed to recover himself and get to a safe place before he was infected by the virus after Dr. Eggman had 'fired' him. Now he was looking for one specific zombot when he'd found Shadow the Hedgehog wandering around aimlessly as a zombot. If he was infected, then what about...

"Aha," he muttered, passing over a group of zombots. He spotted the one he was looking for, grabbing a rock from inside his flying device that he'd grabbed for the diversion. He threw the rock, the zombots looking over to the source of the noise and starting towards it. Starline hovered his aircraft over his target, lowering the grappling hook and closing it around the zombot's head, knowing that it couldn't hurt it.

And with his capture in hand, he reeled in the hook and took off towards his makeshift base.

Once there, he dropped the zombot in through the top hatch before landing his aircraft and slipping into the base. The zombot had landed in the cage he'd built for it, hands pressed up against the thick glass, red eyes glaring out at him.

"Ah, my dear," Starline said, sauntering over and standing in front of the cage. "I know, I know. It's a shame that you had to become one of them, but don't worry, you're safe with me now." He walked over to the monitors, turning one on and tapping into some surviving surveillance cameras over the cities. "What a disaster. Perhaps we should have conducted more testing before now." He stepped away from the monitors, clasping his hands behind his back.

"The doctor doesn't appreciate me," he said. "He also stole my Warp Topaz, which I've been working on for a long time. No doubt I'm most likely never getting that back." He turned back to his prisoner and placed his hand against the glass. The zombot shifted over, trying to get ahold of him. "But I did get you back.

"Anyway. The doctor didn't appreciate my work. I brought him back from his amnesia, made him great again. I used the Warp Topaz to bring him many things, and one of them would have been the greatest creation. That was you, (Y/n). I successfully turned you into a Mobian and gave you a wonderful voice! I created the Scream and the doctor still didn't appreciate my work!" He stepped back from the cell, looking her up and down.

"Unfortunately, I can't continue work on you until this dreadful pandemic is over," Starline continued, flexing his hand that had once held the Warp Topaz. "But I have you in my possession, and I am not giving you up." He looked up at (Y/n), but she only stared at him with her hungry red eyes. "I know that Sonic the Hedgehog will save the day. He will get rid of this flawed virus and my work on you can continue. I will get revenge on the doctor, on Sonic, on this world."

He stepped back up to the cage, giving the infected (a/t) a sinister smirk. "I'm going to finish what I started," he said in a low voice. "And then you and I will finally get what we deserved." He stepped away from her, chuckling as he walked out of the room. "Just wait and see...."

A/n: Am I surprised that I couldn't make a standalone? No. Not really. Though this one I legit did not plan to be a standalone and usually with my books that's what happens: I plan to make them a standalone and end up having tons of loose ends and it needs a sequel. Ah, well, can't help myself. But there you go!
