This one was supposed to be for a Silmarillion character, but then I changed my mind and figured that this should be a Lindir one. I got the idea for this while listening to elvish music.

The night was young, and the stars twinkled like little lights in the sky. Elbereth has given everyone in Middle-earth, well, almost everyone, a beautiful night. You stared at the sky with your lover, Lindir.

His brown hair could be seen in the starlight. Despite his hair being a more dark color, it had some radiance to it. The elf's hand was over yours as you sat on the green grass, admiring the sky above. Lindir's chocolate brown eyes were looking up.

Darkness was still upon these times, but your love for Lindir grew much deeper. No dark force would ever stop you from loving the elf. Despite all of the dark in Middle-earth, you still had the sun, the moon, and all of Elbereth's stars brightening up the days and nights.

Battles have broken out recently, and Lindir truly wasn't a warrior. He would rather remain in peace with you in a serene field of flowers than fight in the cold, deadly battlefield. And so he did remain in peace with you, as he didn't fight in battle. But that didn't make times peaceful. With a Dark Lord still active and the One Ring still to be destroyed, war raged in Middle-earth.

After some silence, Lindir spoke in a soft tone, "Do you know what I love about these moments?" He paused to think. "The times may be dark, but the winds of Manwë still blow softly, the stars of Varda still shine brightly, the gems of Aulë still shimmer, the trees of Yavanna still give the freshest fruits, the seas of Ulmo still have foam, Irmo still gives us some sweet dreams, and the rest of the Valar still give us grace, despite tell fact that we didn't listen to them."

You smiled at his wordy yet delightful statement. "You sure have a way with words." you muttered. Lindir turned to you and you noticed the stars shimmering in his eyes. He brought up your hand and pressed it to his lips.

"Ithil a elin nin, vain cen le hi." he whispered. The compliment made you blush lightly. Your lover had taught you some Sindarin, so you knew what he said. He noticed you understanding the compliment. "It appears to me that you've learned from what I've taught you."

"I have." you confirmed. "Guren glassui, Lindir."

Lindir tucked part of your hair behind your ear before telling you, "Ah, there is no need to thank me. I would do anything for you, my love." He sweetly kissed the top of your head and pulled you in closer.

"Why are you being so... poetic tonight?" you asked. "Why are you speaking such beautiful words? I don't have a problem with it, but  I'm impressed by your words." Lindir smirked and kissed your temple.

"I don't know." the elf whispered into your ear. "I might be inspired by the beauty that surrounds me." The whispers, made you shut your eyes slowly. His voice was so gentle and light, and the most soothing one you've ever heard.

You loved Lindir, and with all of your heart. And you were a mortal! Few mortals have fallen in love with the immortal elves, and vice versa. When they did fall in love, however, the amount of love that was in the relationship was the same as those of two elves and those of two mortal Men. If not, to be bold, more.

Thinking about love made your mind wander off to distant places. A certain thought wouldn't leave your mind. What life was like being wed to your current lover. Lindir, your husband. It sounds so right. In addition, as you only had a limited time to live, you really want to be married to him while you can. But, if he wishes to take the relationship slowly, it is absolutely fine. He could be making a good choice.

Lindir had some family in Imladris. Despite them being elves, they were accepting of Lindir loving you. Thank the Valar that they were, but even if they didn't accept the romance, the two of you would still be in love.

Right now, the brown-haired elf held you close and watched the sky and it's small lights. The night grew old and you yawned. Maybe it was time to go to sleep. So, you stood up to go to your bed, but Lindir let out a, "Wait!" making you stop and face him.

"There is something I must tell you!" he exclaimed.

Butterflies flew around in your stomach. You had been thinking about marrying the elf recently. Was he going to propose? How was he going to do it? So much was on your mind at the moment.

"Erm..." Lindir hesitated. His legs shook and his breaths were heavy. He had a look on his face that you have rarely seen before. You pitied him, and hoped that he will gain the courage to say what he had to say.

Then, he got down on one knee and pulled out a beautiful ring. You were right, he was proposing! A rush of nervousness and pure love filled your body. Although you expected it, you were taken aback.

"Melamin, will you do me the honors and be my beloved?" Lindir asked. "As soon as I saw you for the first time, my heart longed to be with you forever. And now I believe that it is time that we be wedded to each other."

You nodded happily, tears gently streaming down your face, similar to a river flowing down your cheeks. The tears weren't of sadness, no, they were tears of joy. After nodding, you exclaimed, "Yes!"

Lindir grinned and lifted you up in the air. The sound of your melodious laugh made your now fiancé joyous. Once he placed you on the ground, he slipped the ring on your index finger and deeply kissed you, making your heart flutter.

Goodness, this was definitely one of the greatest moments in your life.
