in a society full of super powered people, what was better than the emergence of soulmates coming with the coming of quirks?
sasaki rin always worried about meeting her soulmate, thinking that they would never be able to see past her flaws. i mean, she has a lot, why wouldn't they only see the flaws and leave her alone?
she had gone her entirety of high school without meeting her soulmate, she didn't go to college, and now here she was, working in a library that made her feel so at home.
living in a black and white world wasn't exactly the way she liked to live, but with venom being able to see color, she didn't have a lot of trouble with it. it just got annoying whenever people expected her to know what color something was and she had to tell them that she didn't. some assumed she was just colorblind, but after being seen with a specialist when she was younger, that's how they found out it was her soulmate system.
"hey, rin." she flinches slightly at the person whispering to her, turning her head to see neito standing a few feet away with a smug look on his face.
"what do you want? i'm working."
"wanna go get lunch?"
"why? i thought you and itsuka-chan were hanging out today?"
"we were but she got caught up at work, so i decided to visit my favorite frenemy and ask her to come to lunch with me. i'm lonely and we haven't gotten together for food in awhile."
rolling her eyes, she takes out her phone and glances at the time.
"i have fifteen minutes until my break comes, then we can go. now piss off," she states, gesturing for the boy to leave and making him chuckle as he moves to one of the tables to sit and wait.
sighing, rin heads over to the counter and turns on the computer, typing for a bit. she glances around every once in awhile to check the occupants of the library. there were maybe six people she could visibly find, including neito, who were all just doing their own thing aside from a couple a little ways away. the two men were whispering excitedly to each other about something, making her shake her head with a small smile before turning back to the papers on the desk.
looking at the clock on the computer she notices there's only a few minutes left until her break.
the couple come over to her, holding three different books between them. smiling politely at them she helps check them, quietly telling them to return them in about two weeks. the men nod, leaving and chattering quietly until they leave the building.
neito comes up after they leave, smirking. "ready? we can get chicken."
rin nods with a small smile, going around the back to talk to the part-timer in the back.
"midoriya-san." said boy jumps a bit when she calls for him, smiling wearily. "yes, sasaki-san?"
"i'm going on my break, you can handle everything for now, right? i'll be back in around half an hour." he nods vigorously, giving her a determined look. she nods with a light smile then turns back around and leaves with neito.
the man leads her to a little restaurant not far from the library, them being seated quickly. they order not long after their drinks arrive.
