I was in the middle of a peaceful sleep when suddenly it felt as if an earthquake hit the entire house started to shake, which caused me to fall out of bed hitting the floor boards with a had thud,
I ran to Sammie's room trying to keep my balance as the house shook,
Mystic Falls doesn't get earthquakes, I thought as I stumbled to Sammie's room seeing that she was tossing her head back and forth as if she was having a nightmare,
I looked around seeing objects floating in the air,
I rushed to her, gently shaking her,
"Sammie.." I said whispering
She didn't wake up it seemed like her nightmare was getting worse,
"Sammie!" I said shaking her
this caused her to gasp awake, as sweat fell from her face, the house stopped shaking and all the objects that were floating in the air suddenly fell,
This must be the cause of absorbing her mother's magic,
I could hear her heart beat it sounded as if she was in cardiac arrest,
"Hey, your okay," I said
as I tucked a strand of her hair away from her face which was covered in sweat,
I see she's trying to get her self together,
"Hey, why don't we get out of here for a day, huh" I said playing with some of her hair,
"Where?" She said
"Well I heard there is a carnival a few towns over," I said
She nodded
"Great get dressed," I said walking out of the room,
"What happened?" Stefan said walking in the house,
"You wouldn't believe me even if I told you little brother," I said
Sammie POV
I got dressed in a grey shirt red hoodie, blue jeans and grey sneakers,

I left my hair down,
I walked down the stairs,
"Ready Dove," Dad said
I nodded,
"Where are you two off too?" Uncle asked
"This is a Daddy daughter thing you wouldn't understand why don't you go find Elena I'm sure she's getting into some kind of trouble," Dad said with his arm around my shoulders leading me out of the house,
We got in his car and he started to drive,
"So you going to tell me what the nightmare was about?" Dad said as he looked over at me,
"Huh," I said
"Dont huh me, It doesn't take a genius to know you were having a nightmare," Dad said
"I-" I said But he cut me off,
"And don't you dare lie to me young lady," Dad said
"It was just about the past that's all," I said looking out the window,
"Your mother and stepfather?" Dad asked
I just nodded
"How long have you been having them?" He asked
"It's actually the first time in a few weeks I've had one," I said
He nodded as we pulled into the parking lot,
"Wow," I said
"Yeah," Dad said as he smirked
Stefan POV
I was sitting having a drink when I heard a loud noise from the basement,
Oh no! I thought vamp speeding down to the basement to see that Maria and her husband were gone,
Then I heard the squealing of tires take off,
I rush to the window to see that a black SUV speed off,
"Shit," I said
Picking up my phone to call Damon
Sammie POV
It was getting dark but I was having a really good time dad won me a teddy at a game, I told him he didn't need to but he insisted,
Right now we were sitting in the grass waiting for the fireworks to start,
Dad's phone rang but he ignored it, it's been going off all day, but he said nothing was going to interrupt our day,
The fireworks went off and let me tell you it was something I've never seen before, they were so beautiful, I couldn't even express how I was feeling I felt as if I was a normal kid in this moment,
This moment I felt as if nothing in my life was wrong, for the first time in a while it seemed I was smiling,
Damon POV
I looked over at Sammie and she was watching the fireworks in amazement, with so much interest, and for the first time in a while I seen a smile creep onto her face,
I would do anything to keep that smile on her face, anything, I thought
Sammie POV
We were walking the Carnival when a question I really wanted to ask kept popping in my mind, I caught myself staring at Daddy,
"What is it?" He said still looking ahead as we walked
I guess he could feel me staring
"Can I ask you something?" I asked
He looked at me,
"You know you can ask me anything," Dad said
"You don't have to answer but," I said
"But what?" He said
"How did you become a vampire?" I asked
"It's a very long story, but I will tell you," Dad said
"I was in love, with the one and only Katherine Pierce but what I didn't know is that she was a vampire," Dad explained
He told me everything from his own father killing him, to comping back to life and Stefan forcing him too feed to become a vampire,
How he made it his mission from then on out to make Stefan miserable for eternity, how he turned off his emotions killing a lot of people how Stefan's best friend lexi tried to get him to turn it back on,
how he spent several years in this experimental place in St Augustine, how he meant a friend in there named Enzo, how he again turned off his emotions in order to leave him behind,
"Sammie, I've done a lot of terrible things, but all that changed when I found out about you, you have filled my life with purpose," Dad said
I smiled at him, then I hear a voice I never wanted to hear again,
