"I think I'm going to shit myself," I gulp.

Harper grabs me by the shoulders and moves me away from the crowd until most of my booth obscures us. "Maybe not say that in front of potential customers? It's not a stellar selling point."

"Uh-huh," I mumble, not really hearing her. I'm too busy looking around at the metal death-traps loosely disguised as rides. My ass. I mean, just listen to all the screaming! How the heck do people consider these things fun?

"Tell me again why you're afraid of amusement parks?" Dani questions, tongue darting out to swipe her cotton candy. Her girlfriend, Iris, goes a little cross-eyed at the admittedly sexy maneuver and Dani notices, winking at her.

I wave a hand at all three pairs of eyes that settle on me. "Oh, you know...just a phobia." Then I quickly change the subject when I'm regarded with skeptical looks. "Do you know when Holden gets here?"

"Probably just a couple minutes away." Harper raises a brow. "Why do you ask?"

"No reason," I wave her off again.

Dani laughs, head thrown back in laughter in that carefree way of hers. Men all around her stop and gape at her but Dani is oblivious, pulling Iris into her. The two look killer together. "Oh, not this again. Are you still pretending you don't want to jump into bed with him?"

"What?" I choke on thin air, feeling my eyes widen with panic. "Would you lower your voice! It's not like that."

"Is this that Holden?" Iris asks, blue eyes twinkling in amusement. That? What does she mean by that? She makes it sound like Holden is in a league of his own and he's not nearly that special. Bleh.

"Am I the only one here that doesn't see boss-man that way?" Harper scrunches her nose.

"No, because I don't see him that way either." I turn my attention to my cookie stand, making sure they're all labelled properly. Chocolate chip, oatmeal, and white macadamia. Perfect.

"You're right," I hear Iris remark. "She is a bad liar."

I scowl, my cheeks flaming with embarrassment. They are so, totally ganging up on me right now. The nerve! "You got the wrong idea, sister."

Dani snorts, turning her attention to her girl. "Want to go on some rides, baby?"

"That roller coaster we saw near the entrance," Iris agrees, grabbing her hand and pulling her away. "Come on."

"Good luck with the booth!" Dani calls out.

"We'll stop by and get some cookies!" Iris adds, and then they're gone.
