Astrid held her breath as she gazed at Scarif from a far enough distance that the blue planet looked like a quarter of its size. Even from here, though, she could see the swarm of Imperial ships surrounding the planet, and the orange deflector shield wrapping around the entire planet, sealing the planet off, save for one spot in the southern part of the planet-- the Shield Gate where the Resistance ship, Rogue One, would enter the planet.

The Death Star loomed on the opposite side of Scarif like an ominous presence, its dark exterior making it easy for it to blend into the surrounding black space. From here, Astrid could spot the circular laser focus lens on the side of the spherical ship from which the laser created by the kyber crystals within would strike its target. Cutting through the middle of the spherical ship was the Death Star's hangar, and it reminded Astrid of the equator of a planet.

Astrid wrung her hands nervously in front of her as she gazed at the Death Star from where she stood before the Profundity's viewport. She couldn't help but worry about her family. No doubt, they were trapped on Scarif right now with no way to flee the Empire's grip on their planet. She could only hope they wouldn't be harmed in any way by the fighting that was about to go down on the planet's surface.

And she could only hope that the Empire wouldn't employ the Death Star on Scarif. Surely, they wouldn't do such a thing since it would destroy their own base.

Artoo stood beside Astrid as if he, too, was gazing out the viewport at the distant planet, and he gave a low, apprehensive beep. Astrid couldn't help but echo Artoo's apprehension. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was going to go wrong.

There was a slight disturbance in the Force that seemed to be growing closer to her location. She had felt this disturbance before, and it had always arrived when she was near a certain two people and two people only; Darth Sidious and Darth Vader.

She shuddered involuntarily at the memory of the two Sith.

Artoo gave another low, apprehensive beep as if he could read the direction of her thoughts. Astrid kept her eyes trained on Scarif, watching as a ship lowered through the Shield Gate into the atmosphere.

She took another calming breath as she settled in to wait for signs of action on the planet surface. Only thirty minutes had passed when Astrid spotted the explosions rocking the islands surrounding the main island where the base was located.

Her breath hitched at the fiery sight. That must be the crew of Rogue One creating a distraction so Jyn, Cassian, and K2 could get inside the base.

Astrid wished she could be down there with them on Scarif. Had they not thought that she would have liked to tag along on their small rebellion? Now, she was forced to wait here and simply watch, hoping that they survive their mission. Astrid hadn't even been able to say goodbye.

Astrid watched as more fiery explosions rocked the surrounding islands around the base, and she could only imagine if they were large enough to see from here, then the explosions must be extremely massive.

Astrid heard the door slide open to her right, and she turned away from the viewport to see who had entered. A Resistance fighter stood at the door, and he saluted her as he began, "General--"

"Call me Ayla," Astrid told him quickly. "For as long as the mission last, I am no longer General Katarn, but Bail Organa's advisor."

The man nodded before he began again, "Ayla, we've picked up some nearby activity. We believe a ship is about to emerge from hyperspace soon, and they will be appearing near Scarif."
