Chapter 43

Sana had taken Jaanvi and Shini out for shopping and lunch that morning. Sid had left early for his work without meeting Sana. To lift up her mood, she needed some distractions. It was an off day for both the girls and Sana couldn't resist a girls day out plan. They had gone to a shopping mall first. Sana asked Shini," What is your brother's favourite color?" She going through some tops said,"He loves white. Haven't you seen him always wearing white shirts?" Jaanvi said, "But you know, he used wear colours when we were in school." Sana thinking for sometime said, "Actually white suits him. Makes him look dashing. But don't you think he needs some colour?" After shopping they had gone to Sana's favourite restaurant Indian Spices. Sana sitting down excitedly said," This is the famous place where I had met my Siddy boy the very first time." Jaanvi and Shini looking at each other had laughed. Sana started to falter," I..mean..I ..mean Sidharth. He was the manager here." Shini said,"Pata hai, bhaiya had told me one night about you calling him Siddy boy. We both had laughed so much. I had wished that you become my bhabi that night. Never knew yeh sach ho jayega.." Sana leaning towards her asked," Really! Wow! Acha how had he reacted? What had your brother told you about me?" Shini suppressing her laugh said,"He had told me, you are crazy. He had said to me that you are a celebrity and he a common man. So he had asked me forget about it." Sana's face turned down and she said,"Crazy? Khadoos." Jaanvi trying to handle the situation says, "Crazy is not bad. He must have said all in a positive way. Right Shini. Chodo. What are we eating now?" Sana, giving order for them said,"Girls, I need your help. I need to be with Sidharth alone for sometime. I need to give him the gift I got for him. Help me please." And her girls had helped her by going out that evening giving them some lone time.

Sana sitting on the chair of the dining table, thinks about it. Since Sid had left in a rush, she has been trying to call Shini and Jaanvi. After a few attempts, she was able to talk to them. Knowing everything now she thinks it's all her fault. She shouldn't have asked them to go out. She kept blaming herself, praying to God as she waits for Sid to return. Sid returns home with Shini, Jaanvi and his mother after nearly an hour. There is a bandage on the head of his mother as she enters the house, holding on to her son. Sana comes running towards them with tears in her eyes. It is evident she had been crying all along. Sana hugging her says,"I was so worried for you. Aap thik hai nai?" Sumitraji puts her hand on her cheek and says,"Bacha roh kyun rahi hai? Kuch nahi hua mujhe..Just a small cut. I will be all right soon." Sana holds her from her other side as they take her to her room and put her to bed. Sana sits beside her, feeding her, giving her medicines and holding her hands till she falls asleep.

Jaanvi and Shini sit in the living room with Sid who has a furrowed brow. Sana comes out and sits beside Sid, putting her hand on his arm. Jaanvi says,"Those guys were in the multiplex too. They were creating commotion. The security threw them out. Who knew they would be back? " Sana asks, "What exactly happened?" Shini tells her that after the movies, they had got into a restaurant to have dinner. Three guys got in who were at the multiplex and started making ruckus. They started passing absurd remarks to all girls sitting there. As they tried to do that with Jaanvi, she slapped one of them. Few guys came forward to stop those goons and in the commotion one of them pushed Jaanvi and Sumitraji standing behind fell, hitting her head. Sid's veins were standing by now with anger. Sana puts her hand over his trying to calm him down. But he says,"Why didn't you call me earlier? I would have taught them the right lessons. How dare they!" Jaanvi says," I am sorry Sid. It's all my fault. I should have left with mummy and Shini. But I couldn't stop myself from slapping them." Sana with a serious face says," It is not your fault. It is no one's fault but theirs. So stop blaming yourself. All of you. Maa is okay. She will be get better soon. Both of you come and eat now and then go to sleep. Chalo abb... Chalo.."

Sana comes out of the bed room with the pillow. She decides to stay with Maa tonight. She comes and sits beside Sid. He is sitting with his hands on his forehead. Sana holds his arms and puts her head on his shoulder. She whispers," I know how much your family means to you. I know you are worried. But she is okay. Don't worry so much." Sid looks at her and says," Yes I know. But what if anything serious would have happened to her? I would have died. After dad left, she is my everything. I.." He gets choked up as tears appear in his eyes. Sana kisses his cheek and says,"I know how you must be feeling. I lost my mummy and papa when I was young. I saw them dead right in front of my eyes. I still have nightmares of that night." Sid could see the fear in her eyes, the same one he had seen that night when they were together at the hotel. He runs his thumb on her cheek as he holds her face. He asks,"You saw them dying in front of your eyes?" Sana looks at him with horror and says,"Not dying but...getting gunned down. I was hiding in the wardrobe and saw two gun men showering bullets at my family. My whole family, my mummy, papa were all..killed that night. I.. still.. get frightened from the ..noise of crackers." Sana had no idea when tears had started to flow out of her eyes. Sid takes her into his arms. Holding her tightly, he rubs his hand on her back, calming her down. As her sobs slow down, he says,"I am sorry. I am so sorry....I can't take away your pain or bring back your lost ones. But ..but I am with you now. You have a family now, who really loves you." Sana looks up and says, "Tum mujhe kabhi chod ke toh nahi jaoge.." Sid kisses her forehead and smiles shaking his head. Sana touches his cheeks with her fingers and says,"You look good when you smile. That furrow on your eyebrows does not suit you my handsome shayar." Sid looks surprised hearing those words. Sana smiles and coming closer, softly takes his lower lips into her. And before he could reciprocate, she leaves him and gets up. Sid looks at her and holds her from her wrist and says,
"Yeh galat hai,
Mere hoton ko chukar yun chalejana.
Yeh galat hai,
Tumhara yun mujhe iss tara satana.

Apna manti ho mujhe,
Phir inti duri kyun hai.
Mere lafzo ko samjho,
Tumhare iss shayar ki guzaris hai.

Tamana hain mujhe,
Unn hoton ko chune do.
Tumhe kasam hai meri,
Iss deewane ko yun na tadpao."

Sana comes to him and holds his face. She bends as if to kiss him but instead blows air to his face and starts to laugh. She whispers,"Yeh duriyon ka mazza lo. Tadpo thoda aur.. tumhe bhi meri adat honi chahiye..I will like it.." Saying this, she goes away into the bedroom leaving behind a smiling Sid. He shakes his head as he thinks about everything that has happened that day. He has been on a rollercoaster of emotions today. From the moment of their coming closer to his mother's accident, everything has been too much for him to process. But what is making him think even more is what Sana told him about her past. Watching her whole family getting killed in front of her eyes must have been so horrific for a young child. The fact that she has moved on from that episode is a big achievement. He promises himself to make sure she does not miss her parents, or get upset thinking about them. He smiles thinking about the kiss now and Sana's mischievous smile. Oh! He is going nuts over her now. Lying down he whispers to himself, "Handsome shayar tu seriously pagal ho raha hai..take control dude.."

The three girls took over the control of the house for the next few days. Sana took a few days off from her schedule to take care of her Maa. She didn't leave her side for a second. Shini and Jaanvi took care of the other household works. Sid was surprised to see this new Sana. The girl who could not take care of herself was taking care of his mother so nicely.

Sid returns from his office quite late that night. As he will be leaving the job, the pressure of completing the work was more on him. Opening the door, he enters to find Sana sleeping on the sofa with the television switched on. Sid smiles and goes inside to change. He looks in the bedroom and finds everyone sleeping. He switches the television off and coming near the sofa, he runs his fingers over Sana's hair. Sana slowly opens her eyes and smiles looking at him. She says,"When did you return? Why didn't you wake me up?" Sid replies," I returned just few minutes ago. Why are you sleeping here?" Sana gets up and says,"Let me warm the food." Sid stops her ftom getting up and sitting beside her says,"No. I had something at the office. Now tell me why were you sleeping here." Sana putting her head on his shoulder as she holds his arms says," It has been days, since we had really talked properly. So I thought I will wait for you. Pata nahi kab ankh lag gaithi." Sid says," You had said to me, enjoy the distance..So what happened to you now. Hun? Aren't you enjoying the distance?" Sana replies," I had also told you, I am obsessed about you. You forgot that?" Sid tucking her hair behind her ear says," I haven't forgotten anything. Not even the moment you left me, wanting for more.." Sana looks at him and says," It seems, you are also getting obsessed with me..or shall I say, with my lips.." Sid smiles looking at her and says,
"Humne kab yeh inkaar kiya hai, haan hai hum deewana aap ke adaon ka.
Intezar hai aap ke kareeb aneka, talab hai aap ke labon ko chuneka.. "

Sana touches his face and comes closer to kiss him, when they hear a soft coughing sound. They turn to find Jaanvi standing near the door, smiling. Sana backs off and gets up. She smiles at Jaanvi and goes inside the bedroom blushing. Sid tries to handle the awkwardness by saying, "Hey, Jaan! Why did you wake up?" Jaanvi comes near him and says," Sorry dude for waking up at the wrong time and disturbing you. I had to come out to get a bottle of water." Sid falters,"Arey, why..sorry. Something had fallen into my eyes. She was just checking it." Jaanvi starts to laugh saying, "Really! I am not a kid Sid. I know what had fallen into your eyes. But what to do, I am the culprit here. Bichare lovebirds unable to find any privacy for romance." Sid looks at her and says,"What romance? You know everything then how could you say such things. There is no romance, no love." Jaanvi smiles and says,"Sakal pe pura dikh raha hai dono ka what you both have. You both just need to accept to each other now. And do it fast." She goes away laughing. Sid runs his fingers through his hair and thinks, Jaanvi is not wrong. He is in fact in love with Sana.
