Chapter 45

Jay's POV

We reached to the first line defense just in time to avoid any casualty, our enemy was using full force to push us down so it would be kinder to help them. My team covered the warriors already fighting there and start retreating, we helped the injured ones to reach the medical help.

"I'm in position and we have started retreating to the location," I informed them through our link and soon I get confirmation from all of them telling that they also reached their position.

I was thinking of checking on Raven but sudden chaos made it impossible to do as a number of enemy's men shifted in their wolf form and started launching on who ever they could find. It took us all a moment to decide how we are gonna keep defending while leading them to trap but it all came to a stop when a warrior near me get down rolling as a huge brown wolf tackled it down. I commanded all to shift and start attacking while the one behind us will keep retreating. I attacked the nearest wolf to me before he could attack my men and snap his neck and turned to look for another.

It's been a while and my body has started showing signs of fatigue but this fight is far from over. We had meet Tyler's group a while ago and been leading them to trap together, we had lost some of our own and we had to feel to pain of losing a pack member. It's not like the pain of losing mate or a family member but we the higher ups of pack still feel it. It's not much but it does make fighting more difficult with giving us more reasons to fight. I must have been to deep in my head to not see two wolves approaching me from behind, I only noticed them when a white blur tackled one knocking it with its other companion, and I heard Eddy growl at me through our link to focus. She has changed, she is bigger and faster than before and she move with such ease that she didn't even notice how huge her wolf is.

"Jay, how are you doing?" I heard her ask through link, I know Raven wanted to ask more than that but she is afraid of the answer. I smiled at the thought of my beautiful mate as I tackled another wolf to ground and hear disturbing snap of their neck breaking.

"Yeah, I'm fine, not hurt anywhere," I replied completely ignoring the hundreds of scratches on my skin and asked her how she is doing.

"Jay, could you give a hand, I am you know a bit stuck," Tyler screamed from under three wolves who were trying to bite any and everywhere they could dig their canines on his body. Idiot why hasn't he shifted yet.

I went and ripped the first one I could get and throw him as far away as I could then went for another one and did the same with him except this time, I get his neck and I threw his trembling body to the ground which stopped moving seconds later. I turned to see Tyler handling the last one, I bent down to give him a hand to lift him off the ground when I heard a loud bang of gunshot following with a thud behind me. I turned back to see the one that I had thrown first lying dead right behind me with a hole in his torso and blood sweeping out from it and Adrian standing with gun still pointing in that direction. He gave me a quick nod and ducked behind a tree, maybe to handle another.

"He is dealing with this pretty well, better than from what I had expected," Tyler said while dusting off his clothes. This idiot.

"He is doing good but would you please shift so you don't have to care about ruining your clothes when you fell," I growled the last part as I get back to fighting my next victim.

We had finally reached the area where we had cornered most of our enemy's wolves. Kyle and Chloe are near this area and we have been mostly successful in transporting our injured members. It took us nearly two hours to make them enter the trap but I still haven't seen those bastard alpha and beta and I bet Eddy is circling whole pack just to find these two. All I can see is wolves fighting and blood red ground from the dead bodies which keep pilling, we all are covered in blood some our own some of our victims but those who are responsible of all this shit is nowhere to be seen.

We have been thinking that we were leading them to the trap but they turned the table when they started follow their strategy. Wolves started cornering us making it difficult to help other, they are targeting the ones we expected them to attack most which being, Eddy, Adrian, Kyle and Stephen. But what make situation worse is that there are so many wolves that keep coming keeping rest of us busy making it difficult to help them defend against the continuous attack. I saw wolves circling around Adrian, teasing him by jumping one by one at him, tiring him out. He was doing his best to defend him with daggers in each hand. And I see Raven who was closest to him trying to reach him but wolves after wolves keep coming at her making it difficult for her to move even an inch from her place. I was too forced to helplessly watch him struggle with them when he suddenly dropped his daggers to the ground, I feared that he might have got hurt so I tried more to reach him and I managed couple of steps toward him when I saw his eyes glowing as his claws elongated and his teeth turned into canines. He growled as he attacked anything that came his way. I think he will manage just fine, so I turned to see others. I found Kyle close to Stephen has they both defend themselves against the attackers. Tyler was a good few feet away from me and he was looking somewhere. He was looking in the direction where more than a dozen wolves were trying to attack a white wolf double their size who was making it difficult for any of them to come closer. I know she could handle herself, this all could be ended if we could find that alpha. I scan everywhere I could see from where I was but there was absolutely no clue of him.

I thought that I saw some moment in the trees from the corner of my eyes which made we turn in the direction only to find someone up in the tree holding what looked like bow and arrow and pointing it at Eddy. My body reacted to the information before my mind could and I found myself running toward her. I made it just in time to push her to the ground when a sharp pain runs through me and darkness filled me.

Edena's POV

I was biting the fool off me who came too close for his own good when someone pushed me to the ground only to find Jay lying there with an arrow in his chest. Everything turned in slow motion as I kneel next to him nuzzling his body, I didn't even notice the growl that left me, I didn't notice other approaching me. I was jerked awake from the trance when I felt the familiar sparks when a hand land on me. I look up to see all of them their and Raven whimpering as she came closer to her mate.

"Take him to the infirmary right now," I said through the link and urged all of them to leave. He is still breathing; he would be fine. Yeah, he would be just fine.

"Retreat everyone. I won't lose any more of my family. Not today," I ordered my pack member only to find them looking hesitantly at me. I growled at them and they slowly start retreating. I made sure that boys had left with Jay and Raven before starting the end of this war. Adrian still standing beside me, honestly, I didn't expect him to leave, I look up to him and told him what I need him to convey to our enemy as I can't talk to him directly in wolf form.

"You fucking coward come out. I want to end this right now right here, you had problem with a girl leading a pack now here is your chance, I challenge you to battle to death," Adrian yelled adding a couple of his own words and sit down next to me. We must be a scene to watch, a boy and wolf sitting surrounded by a number of wolves. They just watch us staring at us as we waited for their alpha to step forward. There is no need for anyone else to get hurt.

"Are you that scared that you might get your ass beaten by a girl that you didn't even wanna show your face or is it that your coward of alpha didn't dare to show up in a war that he himself has started," Adrian mocked him again, forcing him to show any kind of reaction and reaction came not in the form we wanted it to come. Reaction came in the form of another arrow shot at Adrian which luckily, he caught before it could cause any damage. Damn, he got fast reflexes.
