Why the hell am I doing this to myself?

This question popped up in my head several times, the sound of my growling stomach answering it.

With my head low and the frustration slowly building up in me, I walked over to one of the tables and put my tray down before sluggishly falling into the empty chair.
I was actually still quite tired and the aftereffects of my sleep deprivation felt like a torturing hangover... unfortunately it didn't seem to disappear any time soon.

Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a figure moving, passing me and nonchalantly taking a seat right in front of me. Silently I tried not to make any eye contact with him and instead bit off the food he'd just bought with me a minute ago.

"Well," Donghyuck started the conversation and I rolled my eyes in my mind. "Why the sleep deprivation."

"Let's not talk about it."

I still didn't look at him and just poked around in my breakfast with pointed lips. Although the atmosphere between us was a bit uncomfortable, I had to admit that it could have been worse.

Apart from the fact that we were the only people in the canteen, even the lunch ladies nowhere to be found, the tension between us could have been more intense.
Although... shouldn't it actually be worse?

Compared to my usual behaving a situation like this should've been impossible, but here I am. Having breakfast with my actual opponent.

"Do you always have to be so snappy?" he snickered to himself and I knew without looking that he was grinning at me amused.

"Must you always grin like an idiot?"

My tone was clearly annoyed and through the silence of my counterpart I could assume that I had hit the nail on the head. There was a offended hissing sound and I finally gazed up at the brunette who had been playing with me and my feelings since day one.

The older replied shortly afterwards, leaning back against his own chair, "I'm just having fun."

"Ts", I chuckled with an ironic tone, glaring at him with squinting eyes, "can you even take anything seriously?"

Not a second later, I shifted my gaze away from him again, starting to poke my own food once more. I must have frustrated Donghyuck quite a bit and watched for a brief moment exhaling irritatedly.
He probably didn't expect me to be this moody, especially after our small moment in the changing room, but I had to admit, neither did I.

"If you want to act serious, go ahead. Two can play this game."

Shortly afterwards I noticed how the boy now gradually straightened up and bent forward towards me. His arms resting on the table besides his tray as he suddenly transformed the whole aura around him.

"Tell me", I demanded without hesitation, his cheerful mood from before completely blown away.

As I sighed and looked up a second time, I expected an intimidating and threatening expression, which he would probably use in order to get some information, but I didn't. It was a rather strange expression that haven't seen on his face like that before.
