"What time is it?" I ask Jace, because I have absolutely no idea

"What time is it?" I ask Jace, because I have absolutely no idea.

"Six" he answers as he checks his phone again.

In that exact moment my stomach starts to growl. It's six in the evening and I have not eaten a thing today.

"Let me guess, you haven't eaten?" Jace asks with worry in his eyes.

"I kind of forgot" I admit, while starting to feel a little light headed.

"Stay here, I'll be back in ten minutes" he says and jumps up from the bed.

I only feel half comfortable staying here alone while feeling dizzy, but I decide that I can survive those ten minutes.

Jace stays dressed in his grey sweatpants and only throws on a sweater of his. He returns to the bed I'm laying in, kisses me on the forehead and disappears after grabbing his keys. Surprisingly, he leaves his phone on the bedside table. Obviously I'm not one to look through it, like I said earlier, but I do notice that it's another sign from him to show me that I can trust him. I grab my own phone to look through instagram. I try to avoid any text messages, since I'm not really in the mood to talk to anyone.

After exactly ten minutes, Jace comes through the door as promised. I see that he's holding two brown paper bags with a familiar yellow M on it. "You got us McDonalds?" I ask him, while slowly starting to get up from the bed.

"Stay where you are" he says, while putting the food onto plates.

"You know my rule" I tell him weakly, trying to joke a little after all the fighting and awkwardness.

"Yeah. Well, you can make an exception today" he answers, kicking off his shoes and coming back over to bed. He hands me the plate and I see that its covered with fries, a burger buried underneath.

"Wow, are you sure these are enough fries for me?" I ask him ironically. I'm never going to be able to eat all of this.

"Shut up and eat" Jace says, giving me a short smile.

"The burger, you can have it. I'm vegetarian, remember?" I say, putting one single fry into my mouth.

"Of course I remember. It's vegan, actually" he says, getting back under the covers.

"Oh" I simply answer. There's still a lot of tension in the air. "Thank you" I tell him and start to actually eat, like he told me to.

"You don't have to thank me" he says sincerely. Before Jace starts to dig in, he starts to play a random show on Netflix, probably to avoid the awkward silence.

I instantly start to feel better once the food arrives in my stomach, but not eating anything all day doesn't help with the appetite. After eating half of the burger and the fries, I'm full.

"I can't eat any more" I tell Jace, while he has already finished his plate.

He gives me an unbelieving look but gives in anyway. "You finish the burger, I'll eat the fries" he demands, and I obey.
