It was the middle of the night, and the halls you walked in were completely empty. Nothing felt weirder than walking down these empty halls alone. A blanket was around your body as you slowly crept through.

You were sneaking to the quarters of Maedhros. He was your best friend, and secretly the elf that you fell in love with. Sometimes, you would go into his room in the dead of night to spend time with him. Tonight, you were going to his room because you had an unsettling nightmare.

Maedhros would comfort you when you were in his quarters, so he was just the best person to go to. He would talk calmly to you and assure that everything would be alright. For an elf who has been involved in several acts of violence, he was very soft to you.

He had six brothers, and none of them knew about you going into their elder brother's room. If they did, there would be an endless amount of teasing. Also, there is a possibility that you or Maedhros would be frowned upon because others would assume that you two are doing something that's unusual for two elves that aren't married.

You felt a little scandalous. And you had an unsettling feeling. What if somebody found out? Perhaps that could ruin Maedhros' reputation! A little thought came to mind. One that made you a little bummed out. If you didn't want to worry about starting a scandal, you shouldn't sneak into Maedhros' room all the time.

Just this one last time. After this, you would stop going to his room all the time.

Oh, who were you kidding? You are so going to keep sneaking into his room. Besides, if you stopped going into his quarters, Maedhros would be concerned and ask why you stopped. Even worse, he'd quite possibly think that you grew a new dislike for him. That would make you feel so awful.

If you ever hurt Maedhros, you would never forgive yourself. Sure, that sounds a little much, but he was your best friend. The one that you trusted with many of your secrets. The one who gave you comfort when you needed it the most. The last thing you wanted to do for him after all he's done for you is to hurt him. He didn't deserve that.

Every step you took towards Maedhros' room made you more and more nervous. Don't get caught sneaking around. Don't get caught sneaking around... Luckily, you were light on your feet, so there wasn't a single footstep that could be heard. As long as you don't trip or knock something over, you'll be alright. Everything will be fine. Nothing to worry about.

This night made you realize how far your friend's room is from yours. Well, unless time just seems to be passing very slowly, which happens a lot. Based on your memories of the halls, you were almost there. Just a few more steps forward and there it was. Hopefully, you won't be coming in at a wrong time.

Finally, after what felt like ages, you stood in front of Maedhros' door. To not be rude, you quietly knocked three times. Seconds pass, and you see the doorknob move. Opening the door, Maedhros saw you and gave you a little smirk. One that made your heart melt.

"Hello, mellon nin." he said. "Come in." You walked into his room. It was dark, with a dim light from the moon. Sitting down on a couch nearby, you shut your eyes and felt the red-head elf sit next to you.

"Maedhros..." you whispered. "I had a nightmare."

"Did you?" Maedhros asked. You nodded. "Would you mind telling me about it? It's absolutely fine if you don't want to mention anything about it to you. I'm here for you."

"Don't worry, Mae, I'll tell you about my nightmare. It will only make me feel better. So..." you began. "I dreamt about... well, about losing you. In the nightmare, I saw you die before my very eyes. You fell down to a pit of dark. And I screamed and cried for you, knowing that you were lost. Right after that, I jolted awake."

The tall elf leaned down to give you a hug. His head rested on your head and his arms around your body. This hug gave you warmth, and you just felt loved.

"I cannot promise you that I won't die, but I promise you that I'm here with you now." Maedhros told you.

His words made you comfortable. They gave you faith that your friend would always be with you, whether he be physically by your side or in your heart. This was only making you fall even deeper in love with him. Maybe now was a good time to tell him the truth.

But there was no way that you were going to be able to string the proper words together. Messing up was inevitable, and you hated that fact. However, you had to get it out of your chest. Let it out and see if Maedhros loves you in return.

Another reason why you should let it out is that there won't be an issue with anyone getting suspicious about you and your friend. You couldn't do it, though. Telling somebody that you love them can be one of the hardest things to do. So, instead of confessing, you looked to the ground, feeling very disappointed in yourself.

Maedhros could read you like a book, so he clearly saw that you were unhappy. "Is there anything else you need to tell me?" he asked.

"Uh..." You hesitated, not wanting to say the wrong thing. "I'm just worried about what others would think about me going into your room every night."

The tall elf pursed his lips. "If we get caught, that could cause some serious scandals... so, why don't you marry me?"

"I beg your pardon?" You were in shock, and you needed a few seconds to pull yourself together. This was absolutely insane. He just proposed to you. And you didn't even go through courtship yet. Not a single "I love you," and now he is asking you to marry him.

"If this is such a problem to you, then marry me. Be my one and only." Maedhros said.

You smiled and decided to kiss him. He had to lean down for you to fully be able to kiss him, as he is very tall. This moment of pure love and joy lasted for a few minutes before the two of you formed a new distance between you.

"I will marry you." you agreed. "But only if you promise me something."

"What is it?" Maedhros asked.

"Promise me to be by my side for as long as you can."

"I promise."

I finished my first week of online school recently and it is so weird holy crap. Maybe I'll get used to it soon.
