The wedding ceremony was held at Grimmauld Place a week and a half later. It was not our dream location, but I had made it a priority to redecorate the sitting room and with a lot of effort it barely resembled its old looks. We had covered the walls up with white sheets so that the old tapestry and paintings weren't visible. Adding garlands and tons of white flowers that made the room smell nice, so in the end it barely resembled its old form.

„It's beautiful," Sirius said, when he saw the finished room. „I had my doubts if I could enjoy a ceremony here, but actually the way this looks and the fact that my mother would throw a tantrum about it, makes me see the appeal."

„It is kind of symbolic for the fact that the future of the Blacks is a bright one, rid of hatred and reconstructed in our image. Our marriage is a promise that we will do better."

Sirius smiled. We had been debating the name choice for the past few days, but since my name was tainted as well, we had settled on Black as a shared name. Sirius would have loved to get rid of his family ties, but he had agreed when I suggested to give it a new meaning. His family would hate for the last remaining family members to fight for the Order and overthrow the traditions of the old and noble House Black.

I liked that and he did as well.

My dress was probably the most beautiful one I had ever owned. It was a long, pale gown, hugging my silhouette perfectly, with lace details and a short veil that reached just over my shoulders. Molly helped me get ready and I was grateful for that. We had at last decided that the Weasley were invited as well and I was happy to have them here.

„You look so beautiful," she said. „Sirius is a very lucky man."

I smiled. „I am so happy, Molly. Finally this is happening."

„I am very happy for you, marriage is a wonderful thing if you truly love one another and I know you two do. Now off, we cannot have them waiting for too long."

Remus had agreed to walk me down the aisle, even though it was a short one. We stood in front of the door, out of sight, and my nerves got the better of me. My best friend gave me a long hug, then I took his arm and we entered the room.

Sirius was standing on the far end, looking at me with a nervous expression that I had rarely ever seen on him. When he saw me, his face lit up and he smiled.

Remus let go of me as soon as I stood next to my soon-to-be husband and gave him a meaningful look. Sirius didn't grasp it, he just stared at me and I could not look away from him either. He was wearing a beautiful suit with a dark coat and a vest that had a subtle burgundy flower pattern on it. I had never expected to see him like that, to actually live to see this moment. It was a lot to take in, but everything I could ever want.

„You look so beautiful," he mumbled, tearing up, a sight that made me cry as well.

„So do you," I replied, smiling through my tears.

The ceremony was short and sweet. We both said yes with no hesitation, not even waiting a second longer than necessary to seal it with a kiss. Sirius pulled me close and held me and I forgot about the world around us.

When we were pronounced husband and wife, the Weasleys and Remus congratulated us warmly. We took many pictures and then had a wonderful dinner that Molly had prepared, together with the huge wedding cake that we would never be able to finish. It was perfect, no fuzz, just the essentials. The last time I had been this happy had been over a decade ago.

„Sirius and Alia Black," Remus said during the little dinner party. „Imagine Umbridge knew about that, she would never get over it."

„I mean, she did suspect it, didn't she?" I asked. „In any case I would love to see her dumbstruck face, but I am also very glad I don't have to."
