The next day, Dolly noticed Spike was gone.
Dolly: Hey Dylan you don't know where Spike is?
Dylan: Maybe he went out to walk somewhere.

Dolly was worried about Spike not being present when someone knocked on the door. When Dolly opened it, she saw no one but the letter. When she read it, she froze.
Dylan: Hey Dolly is something wrong?
Dolly said nothing but gave Dylan the letter. As Dylan read it, someone knocked on the door. It was Fergus.
Fergus: Look, someone kidnapped Spike.
Dylan: I know we have to do something.
Dolly: We need to notify Pearl.
Dylan ran to the station and Dolly, overcome, decided to start looking for Spike herself
