Linden.

"So will you say it?" I asked my mother trying not to show my anger. I knew what happened when Emric found them in the basement of the house they were in.

I knew she was mated to the man who came to my house, I wasn't angry because of that, I was angry about the fact that since dad died mom drenched herself in work preferring not to be home, little by little I got used to it, I felt abandoned but I thought better and defended her assuming that it was her way of coping.

Now looking at her and seeing her mated to a man, who supposedly came to St Maine before Emric and the pack, so that he could feed information to his rogue comrades about when the Ryeland pack made their move to here, so they could kill the alpha and take over.

I was beyond furious, she left me feeling hopelessly alone so many times to be with that man, to feel worthless and useless because thought I wasn't the one putting effort into our relationship.

"Cut your mother some slack, she didn't know about you and the alpha till I told her." I scoffed looking at the man. "You shut up, don't make me tell my mate to rip your head off right now!" I responded harshly and he sat down.

"Yes, Luna." I heard him say but I was too furious to notice it. "Linden I'm sorry, I know I should have told you I knew about you and the wolves, I'm sorry I didn't come talk to you sooner, I thought it wasn't the right time." I felt tears stinging my eyes.

"Mom that's just a bad excuse for what you did, you knew I was involved with the wolves, but you said nothing and before that you left me to be by myself on most days, coming one day in the week or at night and leaving so early in the morning roosters would give you a medal for waking up earlier than them, I felt so alone whilst you were with him." I argued trying to contain my tears.

"Lee baby I'm sorry, I didn't know you were going through all that." She defended. "How could you, you were never around to be a mother." When I finally said it, I broke down, this was the truth I never wanted to admit to myself.

My mother had indeed left me alone, to be by myself and fend for myself, she was never there to be a mother, my brother had abandoned us already, we were dysfunctional in every sense.

"I'm so sorry Linden, I didn't mean to hurt you." She mumbled lowly wiping her tears away and the man I knew to be her mate consoled her. "You still did hurt me mom, and as much as I want to hate you I can't, you're my mother, my best friend, and the only person I had before Emric even though you weren't always there." I sniffled wiping my tears away.

Emric walked in to find me crying and hurriedly walked to me, his arms encasing me in an embrace. "I'm okay." I mumbled listening to heartbeat. "I made my decision, the rogue mated to my mother won't be killed, for him to be held hostage by his comrades was because he didn't do what they asked." Emric looked surprised by my decision.

"He will be on a probationary period before the alpha integrates him into the pack." Emric placed a kiss on my forehead and headed out to inform everyone. "Can I talk to my mother alone?" My mom looks to her mate and nods.

Once we were alone I sat down in front of her. "I'm sorry Linden, I never meant to hurt you and I will make it up to you I promise, I thought you were coping without me like your brother since he never really checks up on us, I thought you didn't need me." I understood what she meant but it was wrong.

"Mom every decision I made, I always thought about you, I always considered you and finding out that I wasn't fully part of your life and consideration hurts." I replied making her frown. "I'm always going to be sorry love, I promise if you get to know Dean you'll like him, he's good man, wolf or not." I only nod knowing it would take time for me to adjust.

"I need time mom and as much as I want to believe I can deal with everything right now, I can't, I can't forgive you and move on easily after so much time has passed with me feeling broken and hurt, I need space mom, I think it's best I move in with Emric." She gasps. "Linden please don't leave." She murmured lowly.

"Its what's best for me mom, I need space though I will visit to check up on you and meet Dean after this, I nonetheless need the space to heal." She sniffled and wiped away tears. "You're right, you've been putting me first and I think it's time you put you first, though it's going to be hard not having you around, it's for the best." I nod and hug my mother.

I loved my mother and I could never hate her but what she did was unfair and I needed to heal, away from her, I needed to put me first. "I love you, Linden, you've grown up and I missed it but not anymore." I smile toward her. "I love you too, and I'm looking forward to that." We stayed in that embrace for a while until Emric and Dean walked back in.

"Take care of my baby." My mom asserts looking at Emric. "I always will, I promise." He responds with a smile and I turn to meet the eyes of Dean my mother's rogue boyfriend. "Thank you for not separating your mother and I." I didn't know how to feel about Dean but my mother deserved to be happy as well.

"She's happy with you, that's all that matters." He nods with a smile and walked out with my mother beside him. I was glad my mother had someone to take care of her but now I needed to take care of me and my mate.

That's what mattered because he was all I ever needed. "So you're moving in?" He asked with a cheeky smile. "If you'll have me Alpha." I respond with a smile. "Someone is feeling naughty." We kiss deeply and passionately.

I remembered how Emric pounded me so hard I could barely walk and used it as a way to stop me from going with him to rescue my mother, that was good pounding. "Yes I am." I mumbled my response and he smirked.

"Later baby, right now we have to see off my parents I'm sure they're done talking to your mom and probably your new dad." Something about the term dad made me feel different about Dean. I began to wonder what it would feel like to have a father.

"I hope so, I need some love." He chuckled leading me out. "I created a monster." I pout after he spoke. "Why are you pouting Linden?" Mrs. Everlin asks. "Because he—." I glared at Emric daring him to speak. "I said something stupid." He mumbled and his mother burst out laughing.

"I know that look all too well, anyway we're going home, Train is stalking his mate right now, will probably see him in the morning." I began to wonder who it could be that drove Train nuts.

"Goodnight mom and dad." Emric says for both of us. "Goodnight you two, Linden get plenty of rest you stressed yourself out too much today, and don't worry I sorted out the issue with the Vet school and Algiers so sleep well." I smiled toward Emric's dad.

"Thank you so much, had totally forgotten about it." He nods reciprocating my smile. "Anything for you my boy." He responded then turned to leave with his wife by his side.

Emric lifts me up from the floor and began to climb the stairs. "Where were we?" I blush feeling his cock swelling underneath me. "Not that far from ecstasy."
