the next day, nini arrives to school and sees gina, big red and ricky talking.

"hey guys." she smiles

gina and big red look at her with guilty eyes and ricky turns around and walks away, not even acknowledging that she was there

"what happened?" she asks confused

"uh-well it's- uh-" gina looks at big red and he shrugs his shoulders, saying that he didn't know what to do either

suddenly the bell rings

"oh! look at that!" gina laughs nervously "uh-well i should-" she turns to big red "we should-"

"yeah!"

the two rush off into the school and nini looks at them dumbfounded before seeing kourtney and ashlyn waiting for her at the doors

"hey, you okay?" ashlyn asks

nini nods with a small smile "yeah."

'why is ricky so mad?'

ricky spent the two lessons zoning out completely. he couldn't focus and didn't want to.

'it didn't mean anything! besides it was a long time ago and i was only fourteen.'

"ricky bowen."

he snaps his head out of his thoughts to see mr mazzara waiting for something

"uh-y-yeah?" he asks confused

"were you listening to what i said?"

"w-" ricky looks down at his book "uh-"

"detention bowen. lunch."

ricky groans and puts his head into his hands

'great. now she's ruining my school life.'

at lunch, nini sits down at her table and looks around, noticing ricky was nowhere to be found

"where's ricky?" she asks

big red looks at her "he got detention with mr mazzara."

"oh." she says in disappointment.

she really wanted to know why he was upset or mad

nini feels her phone buzz and she sees a text from ej

nini turns her phone off and sighs.

'why is he so mad?'

after school, ricky rushes outside and tries to walk as fast as he can so that nini doesn't catch up with him
