Our heroes arrives at Petalburg Woods, deciding to stop for a lunch break, this time, Brock's cooking.
"I was hoping to have more of Ash's cooking." Max said, Ash chimes in with "Don't worry, Brock's a good cook too."
"I hope so." May replies, to which Max agrees with.
Ash goes somewhere else to train, May goes to stop him, but Brock holds her back.
"He prefers to train on his own." He said, May nods in understanding, going back to her Torchic.
During training, Ash catches a Whismur, Shroomish, and Wingull, all shiny, who were abandoned by their clans for being different.
Before catching them, he said to them "It's okay, I'm different too. Everyone's different in their own way."
Ash then scans his new friends.
[Whismur, the Whisper Pokemon.
Normally, Whismur's voice is very quiet - it is barely audible even if one is paying close attention. However, if this Pokémon senses danger, it starts crying at an earsplitting volume.
This Whismur is level 15 with the ability Soundproof, Male, and knows the moves Pound, Astonish, Howl, Echoed Voice, Rest, Sleep Talk, Circle Throw*Egg Move*, Disarming Voice*Egg Move*, Extrasensory*Egg Move*, and Hammer Arm*Egg Move*]
[Wingull, the Seagull Pokemon.
It makes its nest on a sheer cliff at the edge of the sea. It has trouble keeping its wings flapping in flight. Instead, it soars on updrafts.
This Wingull is level 20 with the ability Rain Dish, Male, and knows the moves Water Gun, Growl, Quick Attack, Supersonic, Water Pulse, Wing Attack, Aerial Ace*Egg Move*, Twister*Egg Move*, Aqua Ring*Egg Move*, Brine*Egg Move*, and Air Cutter*Egg Move*]
[Shroomish, the Mushroom Pokemon.
It loves to eat damp, composted soil in forests. If you enter a forest after a long rain, you can see many Shroomish feasting on composted soil.
This Shroomish is level 20 with the ability Effect Spore, Female, and knows the moves Tackle, Stun Spore, Leech Seed, Mega Drain, Poison Powder, Headbutt, Worry Seed*Egg Move*, Wake-up-slap*Egg Move*, Bullet Seed*Egg Move*, Drain Punch*Egg Move*, Focus Punch*Egg Move*, Helping Hand*Egg Move*, and Seed Bomb*Egg Move*]
Pikachu and the others agreed with this and trained up the new pokemon a bit until Brock called for lunch.
The three seemed scared, but Ash said "No need to worry, they're my friends. They'll be more than happy to have you along."
After an hour of hard training, new introductions, they enjoy lunch and sharing stories.
Max was scrolling through his Poke Nav, seeing a pokemon contest broadcast and he and May watches the Rustboro contest together, seeing a Beautifly and it's trainer win with ease.
May was clearly starstruck by pokemon contests and the Beautifly.
"Oh how I'd love a Beautifly." She said, and Ash explains Wurmple can evolve into either Silcoon or Cascoon, to which Silcoon evolves into Beautifly.
"Alright! Time for me to get either a Wurmple or Silcoon! Either way, I'm getting a Beautifly!" She shouts, very determined.
They then hear yelling from further away.
Ash was nervous about it, but Pikachu nuzzles him to signal things would be okay.
They go to see not one, not two, but three trainers abandoning their injured pokemon, two a full team of six and the other a single pokemon. Ash wanted to punch them, Brock stopped and reasoned with him by saying "Ash, the pokemon need our help."
Ash agrees and they run to the pokemon, healing up the pokemon with potions and berries.
Max handled a Treecko, Surskit and Ralts, May a Wurmple and Swablu, Brock a Lotad and Mudkip, and Ash handling the most, a Surskit, Poochyena, Bagon, Beldum, Feebas, and Nincada.
The pokemon were lonely, Wurmple even being cruelly criticized by her trainer for wanting to be in pokemon contests instead of having gym battles.
Then an Officer Jenny goes to them, asking if they seen three trainers, showing them a picture of the trainers that just abandoned the pokemon.
Ash explains everything and the officer nods and thanks them, inspects the pokemon and tells them that they can keep the pokemon if that's what they wish.
The pokemon clearly wants to be with them and no one objected, everyone getting the pokemon they helped with their wounds.
Ash explains even though Max doesn't have a license yet, it's not unheard of or illegal to keep pokemon, even in pokeballs, as long as they don't do offical battles or contests with them until he gets a proper pokemon trainer license.
(Anyone that has a problem with that type of law should really take a look at the trainers you can battle in the games. Some are preschoolers. I think this is allowed.)
Max was excited to have his own pokemon, especially a Treecko since he said to his sister before that he wants a Treecko as his first pokemon.
Now he got his wish, along with a Ralts and a Surskit. Brocks let's Max keep three empty pokeballs for him to properly catch them with, to which he did.
Ash scans his new pokemon.
[Surskit, the Pond Skater Pokemon.
They gather on puddles after evening downpours, gliding across the surface of water as if sliding. It secretes honey with a sweet aroma from its head.
This Surskit is level 22 with the ability Swift Swim, Female, and knows the moves Quick Attack, Sweet Scent, Bubble Beam, Agility, Fell Stinger*Egg Move*, Aqua Jet*Egg Move*, Endure*Egg Move*, Psybeam*Egg Move*, Mud Shot*Egg Move*, Lunge*Egg Move*, Hydro Pump*Egg Move*, and Signal Beam*Egg Move*]
[Poochyena, the Bite Pokemon.
Poochyena is an omnivore - it will eat anything. A distinguishing feature is how large its fangs are compared to its body. This Pokémon tries to intimidate its foes by making the hair on its tail bristle out.
This Poochyena is level 15 with the ability Rattled, Female, and knows the moves Bite, Sand Attack, Tackle, Howl, Thunder Fang*Egg Move*, Fire Fang*Egg Move*, Ice Fang*Egg Move*, Poison Fang*Egg Move*, Play Rough*Egg Move*, and Sucker Punch*Egg Move*]
[Beldum, the Iron Ball Pokemon.
Beldum keeps itself floating by generating a magnetic force that repels earth's natural magnetism. When it sleeps, this Pokémon anchors itself to a cliff using the hooks on its rear.
This Beldum is level 15 with the ability Clear Body and knows the moves Take Down, Iron Defense, Zen Headbutt, and Iron Head]
[Bagon, the Rock Head Pokemon.
Bagon has a dream of one day soaring in the sky. In doomed efforts to fly, this Pokémon hurls itself off cliffs. As a result of its dives, its head has grown tough and as hard as tempered steel.
This Bagon is level 17 with the ability Rock Head, Female, and knows the moves Rage, Ember, Leer, Bite, Dragon Breath, Headbutt, Dragon Rage*Egg Move*, Endure*Egg Move*, Fire Fang*Egg Move*, Thrash*Egg Move*, Hydro Pump*Egg Move*, Dragon Dance*Egg Move*, Dragon Pulse*Egg Move*, and Dragon Rush*Egg Move*]
[Nincada, the Trainee Pokemon.
It makes its nest at the roots of a mighty tree. Using its whiskerlike antennae, it probes its surroundings in the pitch-black darkness of soil.
This Nincada is level 25 with the ability Compound Eyes, Male, and knows the moves Scratch, Sand Attack, Harden, Absorb, Mud Slap, Metal Claw, Bug Bite*Egg Move*, Night Slash*Egg Move*, Silver Wind*Egg Move*, and Bug Buzz*Egg Move*]
[Feebas, the Fish Pokemon.
Feebas's fins are ragged and tattered from the start of its life. Because of its shoddy appearance, this Pokémon is largely ignored. It is capable of living in both the sea and in rivers.
This Feebas is level 25 with the ability Swift Swim, Female, and knows the moves Splash, Tackle, Flail, Brine*Egg Move*, Dragon Breath*Egg Move*, Hypnosis*Egg Move*, Dragon Pulse*Egg Move*, Mirror Coat*Egg Move*, and Iron Tail*Egg Move*]
May was cooing over her Torchic and her new pokemon, Wurmple and Swablu, telling them that she was gonna be a contest coordinator, to which Wurmple was excited for.
Ash and Brock smiles at this
And although May has a LOT to learn, she's definitely doing something right. And that is caring about her pokemon as if they were family.
After all of the crazy shenanigans, our heroes are back to going to Rustboro.
