Callum's POV:

I looked at myself in the mirror as I waited for Selena to finish getting ready.

My short messy blonde hair looked untamed. As usual.

Even while wearing this hoodie you can still see how skinny I am.

Selena says that if I was a girl I'd meet the beauty standard so she's jealous.

I stared at my green eyes.

Suddenly the bathroom door swung open.

"Ready!" Selena says happily.

"That dress is pretty short." I said looking at her pink dress.

"I know. It's pretty though right?" She walked over to the mirror and smiled.

"Yes it's great. But you know how boys are."

She looked at me sadly.

"You think I need to cover up my body because I'm a girl and boys will sexualize me?" She looked hurt.

"What? I didn't say you need to cover up I'm just saying that as your best friend I need to keep an eye out. High school boys are disgusting."

She laughed. "Your a high school boy."

"Yes but I am not like them. If I ever turn out like that I give you permission to kill me."

"Oh I will-" she looked at the clock hanging on the wall. "Time to go!" She grabbed my arm and pulled me away.

****

When we arrived at the house I already felt nervous.

There were people on the porch smoking as they looked at us.

They were so much taller.

We threw our bikes on the ground and walked into the party.

It was very crowded with people pushing and shoving each other without saying sorry.

Everyone was holding a red solo cup.

Are they going to force us to drink like you see in the movies?

I'm only 14 I can't drink.

Selene saw my panicked expression and squeezed my hand.

"Hey!" A loud booming voice called out.

I jumped while I looked up at a guy who stood much taller than me.

"I'm Danny the host of the party! You two are freshman right?" We nodded.

He smiled enthusiastically.

"Cool! I'll make sure no one hands you alcohol or asks you to smoke, I mean unless you want to but I don't think you'll be able to handle it."

I let out a breath relaxing.

"Have fun!" He said as he walked away.

"How did you get invited to a party anyways?" I asked while we walked to a couch and sat down.

"I'm friends with Danny's sister, Bianca. Do you know her? She's a sophomore on my volleyball team. She's great."

I didn't know her. I don't know anyone. And that's because I don't talk to anyone.

***

After I started to relax I started dancing with Selena.

"Hey S!" A girl with beautiful Carmel skin said talking to Selena.

"Hey Bianca!" She pulled her into a hug. "This is my friend Callum." She introduced me.

"Hey I'm Bianca nice to meet you." She smiled.

The two chatted for a while as I stood awkwardly.

"Hey the freshman and some sophomores wanted to play a party game. Wanna join?" Bianca asked.

I didn't really want to.

"Sure! We'll play." Selena said.

We walked to a secluded room where the music was just a distant sound.

I knew most of the kids from my classes.

But I never talked to them unless I needed to.

Everyone sat in a circle.

They scooted over so me, Selena, and Bianca could sit.

"So what game are we playing?" A blond haired girl asked.

"I have an idea." A boy stood.

Everyone's faces got excited.
