As soon as the feast was over Dumbledore instructed specific students called prefects to lead the new comers to their common rooms. Prefects seemed to be the same comparison as an RA in American college.

I waved goodbye to my dad as he was already looking over at me before linking my arm with Ginny and heading to where the Gryffindors slept.

"It's pretty easy in order to enter," Ginny explained as they walked up a moving staircase, "all you have to do is memorize the password that the fat lady painting changes daily. Once you give her the password you're in."

"Geez seems like a lot of memorizing," I complained, "maybe I'll just write them down in the morning and keep it with me throughout the day."

"Or maybe don't do that little one," one of the twins said on the right of Ginny. I could tell it was George since I finally noticed something different about them; their noses, "Neville did that last year and a mass murderer was able to get in and almost killed our dearie brother Ron."

I opened my mouth in surprise as Fred appeared on the other side of me, "Not that we would've minded but what if he was hungry to murder more and came to our room next? Murdering this handsome face would really be tragic."

I covered my mouth when I started laughing as I saw Ron turn around and glare at his brothers. But the twins seemed pretty pleased with their jokes that they kept poking fun at poor Neville who I could tell felt extremely bad for losing the passwords.

"Violet you're in my dormitory," Hermione called from up the stairs on the right side of the room.

"Well seems like this is goodbye," I said to the boys as they also began to head up the stairs.

"Sweet dreams Vi," Fred called out as I smiled feeling my heart flutter a bit. That was weird I thought to myself but shrugged it off quickly. I headed upstairs and walked down several doors until I found the number 14.

"Violet this is Lavender, Pavarti, and Anastasia," Hermione introduced me as I smiled at all of the girls. Everyone quickly got to unpacking while the girl Anastasia on the bed right next to mine stuck her hand out.

"Chocolate frog?" she offered while I shook my head and scrunched my nose.

"No thank you, I prefer my chocolate to be still," I replied and she shrugged while throwing it into her mouth.

"So what kind of sweets do you guys eat over in America?" she made small talk while I took a second to think it over.

"Well my favorites would probably be every flavor of m&ms and swedish fish perhaps."

"FISH?" Anastasia said as she chocked on chewing her chocolate frog, "you're telling me you Americans eat international fish as candy?"

I laughed at her expression, "no of course not! It's a sort of like red candy similar to licorice in a way that it's just in the shape of a fish. Just like your chocolate frog except mine don't try to run away when I eat them." I pointed out while she shrugged.

"Where's the fun in that?" I kept conversation going with Anastasia finding I really liked her company. Turns out that her entire family had been in the house of Slytherin until she came around. She's the family outcast and likes to make it a point to use her family name in every accomplishment she has just to spite them. I stayed awake laughing at all her stories about Hogwarts and telling me how she once snuck into the kitchens past curfew to eat a chocolate cake.

I looked at the clock and saw that it was 11:30 and sighed knowing I would have to go to bed. After saying good night to everyone and closing my curtains I placed a silencing charm on my bed. I absolutely despised the sound of snoring and was afraid I would hex someone in a half tired state if someone interrupted my sleep.
