When he hears Nightingale's words, Lin Yie feels really conflicted. It is not hard to imagine what that implicates, but he has no choice. One of the intruders is already in front of him.

No matter what game it is, the core principle is don't let your medic die. Lin Yie knows that very clearly. He steps forward and tries to come up with a way to fight back. The two bullets in his gun won't save them. He needs to take a weapon from the intruders.

In order to not miss his shot, Lin Yie gets really close to the attacker and takes a cut on his shoulder before firing.

The intense pain disappears very quickly. Before it can bleed, the wound is already closing.

The second attacker is shocked. Lin Yie takes the opportunity to decapitate him.

Lin Yie glances at Nightingale with surprise.

(Isn't this too broken?) Now, he understands what Nightingale said.

(I am really buffed). Lin Yie grips the machete in his hand and stares at the other intruders. He can't help but feel confident. No matter how bad he is, if he is invincible, he will still be god-like. The intruders are not stupid either. After losing two companions, they shift their focus to Nightingale.

"That's a medic!" An intruder shouts, "Don't think about catching him. Just kill him! Cut his head off!"

Of course, if he loses his head, even Nightingale can't save him.

In the end, there is no free lunch in this world!

The intruders split into three groups. The ones without weapons stay behind and raise their hands for some reason. The other two groups try to each focus on a different target. One group is closing in on Lin Yie, while the other is going for Nightingale.

This is giving Lin Yie a big headache. He thought these guys would rush him together, but they opted for a more roundabout method. They care about their lives too!

Or perhaps, they don't want to pay a bigger price for catching two people that have no hope of escaping. This careful tactic would preserve their strength as much as possible, and they need the strength for the real fight later.

No matter how slow the Lungmen Guard Department is, they should be here soon. Maybe they are already here, fighting with other intruders below. Lin Yie knows this too. That's why he hasn't fallen into despair yet. He isn't that confident that he can take on everyone with Nightingale's infinite buff.

The best thing he can do with that is bringing a few intruders down with him. That's why delaying or waiting for the Lungmen Guard Department's arrival is his only hope of survival.

On the other hand, the intruders want to use Lin Yie and Nightingale as hostages to negotiate a way out. This is really similar to the cliches on TV shows about police and criminals.

Therefore, he has to endure and wait for reinforcement!

"Go!" An intruder yells.

The three groups move simultaneously. The ones in the back begin their incantations. Red and black elements are congregating above their heads.

(Casters!) Lin Yie finally knows who they are, but he can only watch the Arts coming for him.

But he doesn't have to worry. The same white shield appears again and blocks the casters' attacks.

"Watch that medic!"

Lin Yie quickly turns around and fires at them. Perhaps it was luck. Lin Yie managed to get two headshots with his last bullet. But this is his limit. The other intruders continue rushing towards Nightingale. Lin Yie tries to help her, but he also has a group of intruders coming for him.

*Puff* He gets a cut deep enough to show the ribs, but it is healed in seconds. Lin Yie cuts down his first victim.

His thigh gets cut. It is healed. Another intruder dies.

Lin Yie already lost count of how many he has killed. And he lost count of how many times he is cut. Soon, he can cut no more. An intruder knocks him on the back of his head. He falls down. At the same time, he sees Nightingale is caught by the other intruders. Her staff is already taken from her hands.

The determination and calmness in her eyes are disappearing and replaced with helplessness and fear. He can see her mouth move, but he can't hear anything.

Kal'tsit's medicine is wearing off. She is back to being the caged devil. He watches the intruders slap her face again and again until her face is completely red.

"Damn you all!" Lin Yie feels his rage surging through his veins. He bites an intruder's neck.

"Ah! Ah! Ah!" That intruder shouts, "Are you a fucking dog?!"

Lin Yie doesn't let go. His mouth is filled with a metallic taste.

He doesn't have any hope left. He just bites down even harder. If he is going to die, he will just drag another down with him.

Suddenly, his phone rings.

Lin Yie is distracted by the sound, and the intruder throws him over the shoulder. He hits the stone floor with full force. And his phone is shaken out of his pocket. After bouncing a few times on the floor, the call is connected somehow.

"Heyo!" An energetic female voice from the speaker, "Sorry for being late. Climbing stairs takes time."

"But your cargo is safe." She says, "Please check."
