"Why Does This Bother Me More Than It Does You?"

They silence is a deadly weapon, silence is a killer. Oscar grew worried as Veronica sat next to him, not making a sound. He missed the sound of her beautiful voice, how her eyes sparkled with mischief. She didn't look like herself.

"Are you okay?" he mumbled, causing the girl to stare at him. "Would you believe me if I said no?" "Ron, I'm worried about you," he told her.

She smiled half heartedly at the boy. He was too kind to her, to everyone close to him, yet they never treated him with the respect he deserved. He was a star, yet because he was further away, people believed he didn't shine as bright.

"Fear not my Serpent, there's nothing to worry about. It's merely my thoughts distracting me," she told the boy.

Oscar was about to reply, only for Kevin to speak. "The next scene is where Heather sings 'Lifeboat'. She's raw with a emotion, depression." Kevin looked at Veronica. "Veronica, are you ready."

Veronica stood up, nodding her head as she went to the stage.

Oscar smiled at the girl's emotion with each word she sang, though his smile quickly fell as he realised all the emotion in the song was true. Veronica Lodge was broken, just like him.

Veronica ran off the stage, causing Oscar's eyes to widen. He followed the girl, one of his best friends, his crush, even as she entered the girl's bathroom. He was greeted with the sight of the girl leaning over the sink, crying.

"Ron, what's wrong?"

"Why is everything in my life a mess?" She questioned, tears running down her face. "What's happened?" He asked softly.

"I can't handle it anymore. Everything is just too much," Veronica admitted. "I'm here," he told her as he stood next to her. "Tell me everything."

She shook her head. "I don't want to bother you with my thoughts."

"Veronica, if you were going to bother me, I wouldn't have followed you. You think I'd follow anyone if I didn't care?" Oscar snorted. "Please, that would be unnecessary exercise. Ain't nobody got time for that."

A small chuckle escaped Veronica's mouth as she faced the boy. "Ever since I arrived in Riverdale, my father has destroyed so many lives, now including my mother's."

"Is she okay?" Oscar asked. "He's been cheating on her," she admitted. "He's had a mistress for years."

Oscar's eyes widened at the news, though no sarcastic comment escaped his mouth. He was gobsmacked that the man would cheat on his wife for years. A small affair, sure, but a mistress?

"And now they're divorcing and- an-"

Veronica stopped speaking as the sobs escaped her mouth. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a hug. "You don't have to say anymore. But whenever you're ready to talk about it, I'm here."

Slowly the girl stopped crying. She looked up at the tall serpent, her eyes red and puffy. It was at that moment, Veronica realised Oscar wasn't shining as bright as the other stars, he was shining brighter.
