Okay, what if I were to tell you that the Acacius in this AU isn't this AU's original Acacius?
And that the original Acacius had died, and was replaced by an Acacius from another universe?
(Kind of a "Into the Spiderverse" kind of thing.)
There are two AU's, the Past Mistakes AU and what I'm going to call the Game Over AU.
In the Game Over AU, Acacius and Zachary kind of end up loosing... Well, not exactly...
Red ends up delivering the final blow, and in Acacius' last moments, he stabs Red with his sword. So, in that AU, both Red and Actually are thought to be dead.
Red is dead in that universe, but Acacius kind of isn't. He's sent to the Past Mistakes AU after his death, to replace the dead Acacius in that AU.
(And yes, Acacius does remember fighting Red and being killed by him.)
The Acacius in the Past Mistakes AU ended up dying in a battle against some Demons or something- the point is, he's dead.
The Acacius from the Game Over AU ends up replacing the Acacius in the Past Mistakes AU, and is turned to stone, until someone can free him.
It's a weird explanation, but it's the best I can explain it without confusing myself.
