Beth and Kenny arrived later in the evening, long after Jasper and Darren had shifted back. Jasper was the first one dressed and ready to greet them, while Darren tried to delay it as much as possible by saying he had to get a fresh set of clothes. Since he didn't have a large assortment of clothing with him, it wasn't much of a delay and he eventually went to join them in the dining room.

He heard someone behind him in the hall and he turned in time to see that Gerrit had just arrived home. The man smiled at him. "Darren! I heard you'd be coming back. Are you okay after the other day?"

The rogue couldn't help but notice the black eye that Gerrit now sported. "I should be asking you."

"Darren?" Jasper called from the dining room, taking notice of the rogues presence. "Come over here."

Darren groaned, not wanting to comply but knowing he had to, and Gerrit laughed softly. "I'm fine. Don't worry and good luck." He gave a short salute before heading upstairs.

The rogue then turned and stood away from the trio. He didn't want to be caught up by Jasper's scent, but also knew that the two Betas had it out for him.

"Why is he here?" Kenny snorted.

"Maybe because I'm not the one who punched the Alpha's son? What about you? How are you still here?" Darren quipped.

Beth snarled at her partners defense. "Watch your mouth!"

"Watch your temper. We wouldn't want you to hurt another fellow pack member. Isn't that what I'm supposed to do?"

This time it was Jasper that had to stop the Betas from attacking. "Enough!" he ordered. "Just tell me what you found."

The two shot one more glare in Darren's direction before finally standing down. "We didn't find anything. He was from out of town so no one really knew him. Red Point is pretty big though, so we can try again tomorrow."

"Maybe I should go with you?" Jasper suggested, but Kenny frowned.

"No." The Beta argued. "It might be suspicious. What if the murderer is hiding in Red Point? Having an Alpha show up all of a sudden would alert them to the fact that we have a lead."

"Wouldn't it already be pretty telling if the Alpha's personal Betas are seen running around asking questions?" Darren pointed out.

Beth grimaced at him. "No one asked you!"

"He's part of this investigation guys." Jasper chimed in. "I'd appreciate it if you at least tried to get along."

Darren cocked his head and looked expectantly at them. The Beta looked ready to rip his throat out, but she ultimately obeyed. "Only a few people even know that we're Jasper's personal Betas."

"Gee, you hide it so well." The rogue chastised.

"Can I please punch him?" Beth begged Jasper, who shook his head. She pouted and shoved passed the rogue instead.

"Alright, we'll let you know if we find anything tomorrow." She muttered on her way out.

"Hey Kenny!" Jasper stopped the other Beta from leaving just yet. "How was Holly's birthday by the way? I didn't get a chance to ask earlier. She just turned five, right?"

Kenny shrugged. "Amelia didn't want to hold a big party, but we did take her out to the kids play zone for the day."

"That's good." Jasper nodded. " Try heading home early tomorrow. I don't want your wife to get mad at me for keeping you out all the time."

"She'll love that, thanks." Kenny chuckled before leaving.

As the Beta left, Darren couldn't help but gape after him. "Kenny's a father?!"
