Johnny stood in his apartment, admiring his handiwork, having just remounted his TV to his wall after his little fight with Daniel. Johnny rolled his eyes at the thought. After 34 years, there's was still tension that couldn't be let go. Johnny felt his phone vibrate in his pocket and pulled it out to see Miguel's name flashing on the screen.

First Y/N called him, and now Miguel? He just set his phone down on the counter and continued fixing the tv when he heard a scream come from next door. "Carmen?" He asked confused. Johnny ran out of his apartment, just as Carmen was leaving hers in hysterics. "Carmen, what's wrong?" He asked. She looked at him in tears. "Didn't Miguel call you? There was a big fight at school today." She replied, tears streaming down her face. Johnny was confused. Why was she so upset about a fight? This wasn't Miguel's first fight.

"Did something happen?" He asked, calmly. "Y/N is in the hospital. She's in a coma." She sobbed. Johnny felt his heart drop. Y/N avoided fights if she could, so he couldn't believe what he was hearing. And she was in a coma which was even worse. "I'll drive us to the hospital ." He stated, ushering Carmen and Rosa towards his car.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Y/N was being rushed to the ICU, with doctors of all sorts permitting numerous different procedures. They didn't know the certain extent of her injuries and they would do everything to make sure she was fine. They did X-rays on her to see that her spine was nearly broken. This was a lot worse than they thought.

In a small room, Sam was laying in a hospital bed and Miguel was sat in a chair, getting their various injuries checked on. Sam needed stitches and she had broken ribs Miguel just needed some bandaids and ice from where Robby has punched and kicked him. No words were shared between them as they waited for their respective parents to come get them or for news on Y/N, whichever came first.

A few minutes later, Daniel and his Amanda came rushing into the room, straight to their daughter, unaware of Miguel's prescience. "Oh, sweetheart we were so worried. Are you alright?" Amanda asked, checking her daughter. The girl nodded her head, not daring to speak. "Everything's gonna be alright. I'm gonna make sure this girl gets expelled." The older female reassured, petting her daughter's hair.

"I don't care about Tory. I just want Y/N to be okay." Sam sobbed tears streaming down her face. The older LaRusso's exchanges a confused look. "What happened to Y/N?" Daniel asked. "It was my fault," Miguel spoke up, making his presence known in the room. "No Miguel it's not, it's mine." Sam cried. "What happened, Miguel?" Amanda asked. The two teenagers took turns explaining what happened, starting with the kiss, and ending with Robby kicking Miguel.

After they finished, they both were in tears as the two adults stood there shocked. "I can't believe Robby would do that," Daniel said, running a hand through his hair. "It's all my fault!" Sam cried again. Amanda quietly reassured her. "Miguel let's go outside," Daniel said to the boy. He nodded his head and left the room.

The two exited the room and stood in the hallway, an awkward silence between them. "Listen I know you dated Sam and you two had some problems because of me and Johnny, but I want you to know that we don't blame you for what happened to Y/N. She talks about you a lot actually. Says you're a good kid and she's happy to have you in her life, even if you and Sam ended badly." Daniel spoke up.

Miguel barely had time to register what he said before he heard his mom crying his name. "Oh, Miguel! You're alright mi Hijo!" She cried, wrapping her son in her arms. Johnny awkwardly stood off to the side watching the interaction. Daniel approached him and stood next to him.

"How's your daughter?" Johnny asked. Daniel was taken aback by the question. "She's, uh, good. She could be better if we knew if Y/N was ok." He answered. Johnny nodded. "Excuse me, are any of you for Y/N L/N?" A voice said from behind them. The group turned around to see a doctor standing there, a solemn look on her face.

"Yes, all of us are," Johnny stated, looking at the doctor nervously. "You've seen your fair share of these. So you know the next 24 hours are critical." The doctor stated, talking to Carmen. Carmen nodded her head, understanding the X-Ray that was shown to her. "But she's gonna pull through, right?" Johnny asked, his voice cracking. The doctor looked at Johnny sympathetically. "We're doing everything we can." She replied. She left the group, alone, giving them time to register the news.

Daniel slid down into one of the chairs, his hands weaved into his hair. He cared about Y/N like another daughter and the fact that Robby, his own student, did this, made it worse. Rosa and Carmen took their own seats, tears streaming down their faces. While they were happy Miguel was ok, they loved Y/N. She was apart of their family. Johnny couldn't even register the news. Y/N was like a daughter to him. No, she wasn't like a daughter to him, she was a daughter to him. She was one of the only people who saw past his flaws. Miguel, on the other hand, hadn't stopped crying since it happened. Y/N was his best friend, his whole world. He loved her, a lot more than he admitted to himself or anyone else. He might've actually been in love with her if he gave himself the chance. He was too caught up in the Sam, Tory, Robby situation to even register his own feelings. Maybe if he did, things would've ended differently.

Johnny left the group and found the room where she was being worked on. He felt tears well up in his eyes as he watched the doctors work on her, her eyes closed and chest barely moving. He felt his phone in his pocket and pulled it out, remembering she had called him earlier and left a voicemail. He shakily clicked on the play button and brought the phone to his ear.

"Hey, it's Y/N. I never got to ask you how your date with Carmen went last night. I hope it went well. I've been having trouble recently, what with how I feel about Miguel and everything. Maybe we could go to that burger place after school and talk? Just the two of us? I've gotta get to class but I'll see you later, dad."

Johnny felt tears begin to leak from his eyes. He took a shaky breathe and placed his hand on the window, just watching her. Miguel walked up next to him, staring at the window, his own eyes full of tears. "Kid, I think you should hear this." Johnny whispered, handing Miguel his phone. Miguel, a confused look on his face, took the phone and listened to the message.

After it ended, he handed the phone back to Johnny. "What did she mean with how she felt about me?" Miguel asked, looking at his sensei. "Are you really that blind?" Johnny snapped. Miguel looked confused.

Johnny sighed. "She was in love with you, kid. You were too busy chasing after two girls who played too many games to notice that you had an amazing girl right in front of you. She took Cobra Kai only because she knew how much it meant to you, she cheered you up after your break up, unlike Tory who basically pushed her way into your life. She always made sure you were ok after every fight you ever got into. You should've seen her after the Halloween dance, she was more upset than your mom." He said, chuckling at the last part.

Miguel felt his heart stop. She... she was in love with him? After all this time, when he thought he didn't have her chance, it was the other way around. Miguel slumped against the wall, falling into a chair. "I'm an idiot." He whispered. Johnny looked at him, a small smirk on his face. "Ya think?" The two chuckled a little with tears still going. What were they supposed to do now?
