Jayla Brown, 20

"How you been holding up?" Destiny asked me over the phone.

"I'm okay." I said as I examined her face.

"You been crying?" I asked.

"No." She said as her voice cracked and her eyes got watery.

I sighed heavily.

"Stop crying Destiny. I already said I'm okay." I assured her.

"Yeah but what if you get charged Jayla? Then what?" She said.

"Then ima just have to do my time." I shrugged.

"No you not. I don't know why you so okay and calm about this Jayla. You could get life in prison for this shit." She said.

"I know." I groaned.

"I'm actually really nervous Dess. But I'm tryna stay positive."

"Have you talked to Na'Jour?" She asked me.

"No. Haven't spoke to him since that day I got arrested. But his lawyer is helping me though." I said.

"He ain't even try to come see you? It's been a whole week! He's being so selfish." Destiny said.

"Yeah but ion blame him. I did what I had to do though." I shrugged.

Her eyes started to get watery again.

"What?" I asked.

"Jayla you promised me you ain't do that shit bruh. Why would you lie? Why would you even do some dumb shit like that! I already told you we should just leave it alone but you don't lis-"

"Destiny. Ion wanna hear shit. I did that for you." I said dryly.

"No cause you weren't thinking about how your actions could affect you AND other people. Now you ova here prolly finna face life while I'm out there alone. Ain't no point of any of this shit anymore." She said.

"Okay? Sorry. And stop overthinking. Na'Jour's layer is pretty good so I think I might be okay." I said.

"You don't know that." She said.

"Well we can only hope." I said.

"Jayla. Times up." An officer came up to me.

"I love you Destiny. Stay safe." I said getting up and putting the phone back.

"I love you too." She said.

"Girl do you ever go home?" I asked Nari as I walked in the house.

"Not really." She shrugged. "And I just wanna keep you company."

"Mm. Well thank you." I said sitting next to her on the couch.

"How's Jayla?" She asked.

"She's good I guess. That's what she's telling me. She said everything's gonna be fine but I'm really worried. She really murdered this nigga and now I'm at risk of loosing her forever." I said getting emotional.
