A hulking, headless brute in torn, bloody clothes trudges down the corridor on the fourth floor, while dragging a huge, rusty anchor.

Lin Yie stares at this... thing in horror. He wants to run, but his legs won't budge.

The screeching sound of the anchor grating against the floor drives him insane.

"Please let me go. Please!"

However, his plea fell on deaf ears. Lin Yie can only watch the monster swinging the anchor at his head.

*Splat*

Again.

*Splat*

Again.

*Splat*

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Lin Yie suddenly sits up in a cold sweat, gasping with light perspiration on his forehead.

Was that a dream?

He touches his neck carefully. His neck is still intact, but... it felt too real.

Lin Yie clutches his chest and takes a few deep breaths to calm his heart down. Then, he looks out the window.

It's morning already.

Ansel looks at Lin Yie curiously. He can't help but raise his eyebrows, "Are you not going to sleep in? What's up with those dark circles around your eyes? Didn't you sleep early?"

Lin Yie rubs his temples, "No, uh, don't worry about me."

Ansel shakes his head and puts on his uniform, "Alright then, I'm going to work now."
Lin Yie nods.

He thought about asking Ansel more about the residents on the fourth floor, but he doesn't want to look like a coward.

And Amiya said they are demonized because of misconceptions... They aren't real monsters. What's there to be afraid of???

He already met real devils. How much more terrible can those people be? And he's their admin. Even if they were real monsters, they still live on his floor. What's there to worry about?

Lin Yie holds his chest, trying to calm himself down, even though he doesn't have heart problems anymore.

...

First thing to do in the morning is checking in on Nightingale. If she's fine, he will bring her to the cafeteria for breakfast.

But Nightingale is still sleeping.

"Dr. Lin, you should come back later," Hibiscus says, "Liz had trouble sleeping last night, so Sister Shining gave her some sleeping pills. She only fell asleep this morning."

Lin Yie sighs, "It's all my fault."

Hibiscus smiles, "No one blames you. You're still doing your best to save her, right?"

That being said, it doesn't make Lin Yie feel less guilty. He didn't think using his ability on her again would cause such severe repercussions.

He really doesn't want to use it again.

If this continues...

"Alright, I'll come back later," Lin Yie sighs, "And if she has trouble sleeping again, just call me over. Don't feed her those pills anymore."

"Even when it's midnight?"

"Whenever is fine with me."

Hibiscus smiles, "Alright."

Lin Yie was going to have breakfast with Nightingale, but since she's still sleeping, he just buys a few pineapple buns in case he needs to see her. By the time he gets the buns, it seems he's going to be late, so he goes straight to the HR department.

He doesn't want to show up late in front of Orchid again.

...

"What a surprise. I thought you only work in the afternoons."

Lin Yie asks, "Is my furniture ready?"

Orchid nods. She points at the cardboard boxes in the corners of her office, "Your furniture pieces are ready, but the drones will only come in the afternoon to move them for you. Why don't you go back to sleep first? When you wake up in the afternoon, you will see a brand new office."

"..."

Is that how everyone thinks of me?

Lin Yie says, "I can move them myself."

Orchid seems surprised, "Are you sure about that?"

Lin Yie nods and walks to a box, "I may look like this, but I'm quite strong."

"Alright then. Do as you please," Orchid nods, "The instructions are in the boxes. If you can't do it, just wait for the drones."

Lin Yie lifts a box up and walks towards the door.

But before he leaves, he turns around and asks, "Did anyone bring my recruitment notice to you?"

"Recruitment notice?" Orchid shakes her head, "I haven't heard of it."

Lin Yie finds that strange.

Orchid asks, "When did you put it out?"

"A few days ago."

Orchid shrugs, "Then, I have no idea."

Lin Yie decides to deal with that later. He brings the boxes back to his office, one by one.

When he's finally done, Lin Yie wonders why he didn't just let the drones do it. Did he even manage to prove anything?

Lin Yie sighs as he unboxes his furniture.

...

And that takes the entire afternoon.

Lin Yie wipes the sweat off his forehead.

Then, he realizes something.

Where is Ptilopsis?

Lin Yie looks at the clock.

3:00 PM...

Is she skipping work?
