Lucy's POV-

Everything around me was a blur. The people around me were ruthlessly fighting each other to the death. The air smelled like dirt, blood, and sweat. It was harsh and wild. Everything was flying together. The wolves on their side, the wolves on ours, and everything in between.

I was left at the back of the pack, not seeing much action. Sam was back with me too. He was the one that was unlucky enough to have to guard me. Of course, he never complained. Guarding a Luna or Oracle, in my case, was a very high honor; it meant the ultimate trust.

I scanned the battlegrounds wearily. They sent out their army full force and our only half-staffed warriors were barely holding their own. I didn't understand... The Moon Goddess showed me that this was the path where none of my family died! I couldn't let them die!

A vision flew through my head of five wolves coming to overtake me and Sam. I sucked in a breath and made my way closer to Sam. We shared eye contact, and the men were suddenly upon us. Sam snapped first, breaking a neck with little effort. However, that sent three of the four left after him. They pounced on him with force.

The other one stood before me circling with a snarl, but he never attacked. I gazed at the wolf in front of me, but I didn't attack either. We just circled each other trying to see who would act first. I couldn't, though. I didn't want to hurt the wolf in front of me; there was something within me telling me not to.

Suddenly, Sam's whimper caught my attention. One wolf was chomped down on one leg while another had the other. Then, another larger wolf was standing there barking in order. I didn't need to be a part of their pack to know the order... kill.

I rushed forward and grabbed the larger wolf by the ear, holding a dagger to its neck. However, the other two wolves were already beginning to pull Sam forcefully. I knew that they would easily be able to rip Sam completely apart if they wanted to.

"No! STOP!" I said with so much force that my body buzzed along with the order.

Without further ado, the whole battle stopped.

I sucked in a deep breath as I looked around. All my pack, except for Kale, had their heads bowed in submission. That didn't seem all that strange to me though.

It was the others who had me baffled. Almost half the other wolves on The North's side also had their heads bowed to me. Everyone else who wasn't bowed down just stared at everyone who was in shock, completely stunned.

I swallowed hard. It was common knowledge that wolves did not show that kind of submission to someone who was not high ranking in their own pack...

One of the bowed wolves shifted while still in the submitted pose.

"Lucine?" He asked while slightly crawling forward. "Lucine?" He whimpered. "Is it really you?"

Kale growled loudly at the older man to let him know not to come any closer. The man stopped in his tracks. So, instead, I walked forward slowly finally letting the large wolf in my hands go.

Kale growled at me as I moved forward, but I held my hand up to him as a warning. I ignored him and just kept going forward. I didn't know what it was, but I also didn't care. I needed to go to the man.

The man stared into my eyes deeply. As he looked into my eyes, tears came to his. "Lucy..." He sobbed.

It was then that the large wolf that I had a hold of before came running towards me. It was all such a blur. The warning vision, me being pulled behind the older man, him shifting back to wolf form, Kale and Sam running around the man to cover my back, and then four other wolves who submitted to me slaughtering the large wolf quickly with no hesitance.

That slaughtering pushed the whole fight forward. It was like the world un-paused and everyone began fighting again. Except, each wolf who had submitted to me from the other pack turned on their own. They all started attacking with us, not against. With the help from the half of the pack that was helping us, we defeated them quickly. Almost no one surrendered, but a few did shift their alliance to the pack that had turned on their own.

Once everyone that was trying to oppose us was dead or surrendered, we all turned our attention to each other. No one moved for a long time. Everyone stayed perfectly still and waited for someone else to make a move.

Finally, I got sick of the tension and moved in front of the man from before. He quickly shifted back as I stood and studied him. He just stared at me in awe as we stood there.

Finally, certain people began shifting back as well from both packs. Though, some stayed in their wolf form barley keeping from snarling angrily at each other.

Kale came up behind me and wrapped an arm around me fiercely. However, he carefully did not move me from the spot that I had planted myself in. He turned my chin towards him and looked me in the eyes, trusting his pack to protect us if someone tried anything.

"Are you okay?" Kale asked me in a gentle voice.

"I'm okay, love," I replied and ran my hand over his that was still resting on my chin.

"Oh Lucy, you've found your mate?" The older man asked with tears in his eyes. "That's so amazing."

My eyes met him again. Kale's arm tightened around me as the man and I looked at each other; me in confusion, and him in wonder.

"H-how do you know me?" I whispered softly to him.

He sobbed along with a few of the other older men in the group.

Kale and I shared a look. We were both confused as hell.

"Trevor, take some of the warriors up to the main pack lands," Kale said loudly.

"Remember to let them surrender!" I said quickly. "Many of them will, just like them. I know it."

Trevor nodded at me with a smile. "Of course, Lucy."

"There's mostly only women and children up there. Many of them are a part of our group; they'll surrender easily and willingly. Please do not hurt them!" An older man said pleadingly.

"They won't hurt them unless they try to fight back," Kale reassured the man.

"Can some of my men go with them? If they're with them, it might be easier," the man in front of me asked.

Kale looked at me skeptically, but the vision that flitted through my head supported it. I nodded at him once.

"Yes sir, that would be helpful," Kale said with a nod. "Trevor, they will go with you. We'll be right behind you."

Trevor obeyed and all but a few people from each pack ran off.

"Now, how do you know her?" Kale asked abruptly.

The man just gazed at me with a small smile, along with the other few men that were left behind. "We never thought that we'd see you again," the man said touching my hand gently.

I saw so many things in his touch that I couldn't even make out a single coherent thing that went through my head. It was all a crazy whirlwind. I forced Kale to stay calm as visions flitted through my head.

"You were the hope that we hung onto for so long, my sweet girl. You kept us all going." He brought me in for a hug and kissed me on the top of my head like it was so natural.

In that moment I saw him doing the same thing to a small child. That small child looked just like me as a little girl. I instinctively hugged back. I vaguely heard Kale's growl.

"We thought we lost you." He breathed and kissed my head again.

Kale ripped him away from me and growled overprotectively. "How do you know her?!"

"She is Lucine Elara Smith. Daughter of William and Kara Smith, Alpha and Luna of the Smith pack."

Kale's eyes widened as he looked between me and the man.

I was simply speechless.

"D-Daughter?" I finally stuttered out.
