Shawn and I were walking home from school in the freezing winter air.

As we turned the corner, I saw Jack, my older brother, sitting on the front porch, his face was hard and angered.

I gulped and looked up at Shawn, he looked a bit nervous, but was trying as hard as possible to hide it.

He looked down at me and took my hand, "I'm tired of hiding this, us," he whispered then walked forward, I didn't try to stop him. I walked forward, too.

As soon as Jack came insight he stood up and started yelling, "Woah, Shawn get off of my sister!"

Shawn just stood there quietly and said, "No," sternly.

My mouth fell open, I couldn't believe Shawn said that, I knew it took a lot of nerve to do it.

"What did you say?" Jack yelled louder than I'd ever heard him before.

Shawn swallowed again, "No."

Jack took a step forward, I let go of Shawn's hand and stepped between the two, "Stop it!" I yelled and pushed them away from each other, "Stop arguing, just stop it, I can't take it anymore!"

I could feel hot tears brimming my eyes and the cold winter breeze was nipping my cheeks and nose, "You guys always fight and argue, always, there is never a time when you are both in the same room and actually happy or even agreeing on the same thing!"

The tears fell ver the rim and trickled down my cheeks, warming them slightly, I looked Shawn in the eyes and whispered, "Shawn, I love you, I truly do, and I understand if you don't feel the same," I then looked at Jack and said, "And if you can't handle that, then don't, I don't care what you think anymore, Jack."

I stood there, waiting for an answer.
